What Does a Timing Belt Do
The timing belt keeps the camshaft and crankshaft turning at the correct rate.The crankshaft moves pistons up for compression and exhaust cycles, while the pistons move down for power and intake cycles. Depending on the vehicle make, a timing belt will also run the water pump, oil pump and injection pump.
Why replace the whole kit

So this kit fits good, and is quality parts, BUT, Take the bolt that comes with the kit to the hardware store and get a GRADE 8 BOLT, the aftermarket and even the OEM replacement parts BOLT is a serious problem. (don't believe me, google it) the bolt breaks right at the mounting point in the ALUMINUM Block. You have to drill and EZ-Out to get the piece out. THEN since the bolt broke it took a bunch of the threads out. Well that means Heli coil (S) I had to put in four (4) two deep on the tensioner pulley bolt (one that broke) and the tension piston bolts, two. to be clear it is not the fault of the SELLER. It was a couple day job that should have been a couple hour job. Again it is NOT the SELLERS FAULT.
