The only "problem" I had was when I installed it, it didn't work. It was an easy fix, one of the electrical connectors ("jst") had come loose. I snapped it back into place, and it worked perfectly. I may have caused the problem, or maybe it came loose in transport. Otherwise, it does exactly what you expect it to do.

This light helped me pass my fire inspection this year! So I love it for that. It's a really inexpensive option compared to big box stores and does the job just fine. I can't speak to the longevity or ease of replacement of its battery but installation was a breeze and it looks very good. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the light doesn't seem to be extremely bright which isn't a big deal since it's just to give enough light for you to find your way out of a dark room when the power goes out. It will probably work just fine for this but don't expect it to be as useful as a flashlight. Also it's a little smaller than I expected. I bought it to replace another emergency light that would not work with new batteries installed and this Morris Products light is certainly smaller than the oval shaped lights I currently have. I was hoping for a closer match and hoping not to have to touch up paint around it. Oh well, read the description a little more closely next time. Don't make the same mistake as me. Figure out the dimensions of the light you're replacing before ordering this.Overall the light works and passes inspection so I'm a happy customer and will order again next time a light goes out. I will update the review in the future if my opinion about the product changes.

Soon after installation, I find that this works well. It was easy to install, since it replaced another wall mounted emergency light unit in my stairwell. I like that the internal battery could be easily and inexpensively replaced.Of course, this fixture is only good if it lasts for a long time, so I'll update this review if it needs repair or replacement.UPDATE: It has been in place for two years now. We had a (rare) power outage in the building last week, and this device worked like a charm - it was bright and lasted for the duration of the outage (roughly 3 hours). I plan to buy more.

Though these are normally used in commercial businesses, I purchased two of these for use in my home, as storms have taken out power leaving my family scrambling for a flashlight in the dark. Installing these is quite simple, assuming you have power run to where you want to place them. In my case, my house was prewired for smoke alarms. I no longer use these, since they have been replaced with wireless ones tied to my alarm system. Instead, I wired up these lights in their place. The battery pack appears to be 3 AA sized Ni-MH batteries prewired into a pack and is plugged into the circuit board. I have not tested their run time, but 90 minutes seems reasonable from the somewhat small battery pack. There is ample space inside the unit, it is too bad there are not larger battery packs available. The light output is reasonable, and will allow for safely navigating my stairs during power outages. I have one unit covering the upstairs halls and stairwell, and another unit covering the front entrance and living room. In a full blackout, these will be very useful in keeping my family safe.Installation Steps:1. Trip the breaker for the power at the mounting location.2. Remove the back panel of this light by depressing the two tabs on the top of the unit and pulling.3. Punch out the pre-scored holes for your specific mounting configuration.I punched out the top middle and bottom middle scores, which lined up directly with the mounting holes of a 1-gang wall box.4. Punch out the 1" hole in the center for the wiring.5. Mount the back panel on the wall, pulling the wiring through the center hole.6. Use wire nuts to attach the pre-stripped cables on the light to the wall wiring. Ensure the extra unused wire is wrapped in electrical tape and secured. (This has both 120 and 277 VAC cables)7. Plug in battery cable to the circuit board in the light. (It comes disconnected from the manufacturer)8. Attach light to back plate by hooking the bottom of the light to the back plate, then rotating upward until the tabs lock into place.9. Turn on power.10. After 10 minutes of charging, press the test button located on the top of the device to make sure the lights work. Adjust angles of lights as needed.

I purchased 2 of these to replace older units where the plastic light fixtures has cracked off the main body due to age and brittle plastic. The installation was a breeze...I mounted the plastic backing plate, wired up the power connection with the included wirenuts, plugged in the battery and snapped it onto the wall. (Don't forget to plug in the battery pack...it comes disconnected in the box) Took about 15 minutes each, including removing the old fixtures. After the batteries had some time to charge, I tested them out and the lights are very bright, so much so that I was able to see them well enough to aim them without turning off the main lights in the hallway. Very pleased for the price and if things go as advertised, I should continue to save money on replacing batteries as I frequently had to to with the old lead battery fixtures.Only downside is that with the oval shape, I now need to paint the wall where you can see the marks from the old square-shaped fixture.

Got to light up breaker box when we lose power. We have a generator backup, I need to switch the breakers to the generator. I installed, after 24 hours I tested and light came on. Thought this was a great purchase. Lost power last night, light did not come on. Powers back on, I test light again, light came on for about 4 seconds, then went out. When I read the reviews, all but one gave it a five, so I figured no problem. I guess the 1 review and I got bad units. Amazon gave me an instant return and a label to send the product back. This is one of the reasons I use Amazon, they stand behind the products with no hassel.
