The rail works well, is easy to set up and stable with the bed we are using. One thing I didn't like was that the cover is not removable. My toddler got nose bleed stains on it and I can't remove it to wash, which is quite inconvenient.

We spent hours online comparing bed rails. This one is a little pricier, but very much worth it! The metal bars at the bottom are a little flatter, so the rail fits under the mattress on both sides without a box spring. It’s high quality and durable, and also looks a lot nicer than other ones. Save yourself a lot of time and get this one!!

I researched bed rails for my grandson transitioning from a toddler bed to an adult size bed. The Munchkin rail seemed the best. Not the least expensive, but sturdy and seems well-made. Not too tall, and easily folds down the side of the mattress, without touching the floor. Seems secure when attached to the box spring on the opposite side of the bed. Just bought a 2nd one!

Easy to install and works on all beds - even those with wooden slats which is a plus. Only comment is I wish it would fold down better to be more portable. Otherwise it’s great.

It tilts slightly left and right as it is not stable. There is no way to securely mount to bedframe if undermattress are planks. Poor mounting system. Just loose straps with a plastic L-branket at the ends. Took 2 person and more than 10 minutes to install onto the bed. Good luck changing bedsheets later. The quality is definitely Not worth the price!

We tried several others but non folded down completely FLAT against the bed & most don’t work well with a toddler bed / convertible crib. I did take away a star on easy to assemble & install for one reason: because the plastic L shaped pieces on the opposite side of rail fall over every time you change the sheets or tuck in the comforter / bedding which is super annoying and inconvenient and it’s a hassle to fix every time. However, to fix this I simply zip tied the metal & plastic pieces into place under the crib mattress, you can’t tell the zip ties are there once the mattress is on & it made it much more sturdy & now it doesn’t wiggle slide at all. Overall, it works perfectly & my almost 3 yo LOVES it!

I used this on a twin bed with just a mattress and a laddered slat system in a recessed frame (Pottery Barn bed). Yes, the manufacturer says this isn't designed for this type of bed - but for us, it has worked well. We did secure the metal poles to the slats for additional security and support (another reviewer mentioned doing that with zipties) and I feel like that has added even more stability to an already good product. It was fairly easy to install, although not "1 minute installation" like they claim! It took about 30 minutes to do 2 rails (one on each side) with 2 people. The rails are easy to fold up and down. I do DREAD changing the fitted sheet - and the rails really change/impact the way a flat sheet and blanket or comforter can fit onto the bed. But I'd imagine that is true with nearly any product like this. Overall, this is a great product and the price is worth the quality!

Pros1 - The Munchkin Sleep Bed Rail was well packaged from the factory and all parts were present in the carton. This time, Amazon even shipped me an item in a suitable box that prevented damage in transit, which is about a 50-50 proposition from Amazon these days.2 - The exposed bed rail assembly (including frame, netting and hinge mechanisms) has a pleasant appearance and seems both durable and likely easy to clean when necessary.3 - The hinges and hinge lock/release buttons work fine and feel strong enough to remain functional and reliable for a long time. Time will tell, though.4 - From what I saw when researching competing products, the Munchkin Sleep Bed Rail offers the clear advantage that the hinges are designed so there is no way for children's body parts to get caught in them.5 - The device is easy to learn and easy to use.6 - The rail rotates down 180 degrees to be flush with the side of the bed when "open". Very nice. However, the consumer needs to consider the dimensions of the product and the intended bed it will be used on to ensure this feature will work properly. I measured my installation. The bottom of the red rail's legs (the parts that go under the mattress) have to be installed at least 7.5 inches higher than the floor for the gate to rail to swing down 180 degrees without hitting the floor.7 - After completing the struggle to install and tighten the under-mattress straps, the bed rail seems quite tightly and securely situated on the bed.Cons1 - The Amazon (or manufacturer?) description states, "Easy, 1-minute assembly." At best this is an oversight that does not include the at least 10 minutes of struggle and gymnastics necessary to install the device on a bed. At worst, it simply is a misleading lie.2 - I did detailed research on this and similar products prior to ordering, including researching how products are installed. The Munchkin Sleep Bed Rail appeared to be the least stupidly designed product readily available on the market. However, the hook and strap design is a poor concept. I give the concept 6 on a 10-point scale, where 6 is minimally passing.3 - The product description posted on Amazon has no photos showing the ridiculous mounting system. Nor does it state anything about that ridiculous design. I researched the Munchkin site, which also is mute regarding the design on its main product page. Persevering, I found a link to a product installation page that finally revealed the not-so-clever design. The design seems to solely consider low-cost manufacturing and minimal shipping costs and quite ignores ease of installation and changing of bed linens by the consumer.4 - Good luck easily changing linens and mattress pads without having to struggle with the bed rail and/or to remove and re-install it.5 - The quality of the advertised "Strong safety straps" that "eliminate gap between mattress and bed rail" is about the minimum anyone could get away with. The strap clamps are quite poorly engineered and difficult to access under a mattress--the tiny release clamp is on the far side from the user too. The straps are flimsy and get jammed up in the clamps as one pulls them tight.

We purchased the Kura bed from Ikea and desperately needed a bed rail as we were going from a crib to a "big boy" bed for my son. I searched high and low and came upon this one from Munchkin. I really liked that it came in different colors and looked more modern and fun for my son's room. There is a competitor brand that looks similar, but is much more expensive. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a bed rail that would have basically been half the price of the bed frame itself! This one was a perfect price on Amazon and it fits the bed perfectly as well. I was disappointed that I couldn't find any instructions before I purchased because I was afraid it wouldn't fit the bed. I think it's because the product is so new. But my hubby and I made it work and it's very firmly hooked to the mattress. I've included a picture of the instruction manual so others can see how it attaches. I would definitely recommend this bed rail!
