The drawstring does not go all the way around the pants. It just holds the front (zipper) together. The "security" of the pants relies on the elastic... not so safe for jumping head first in the water!

These run a little big around the waist and unexpectedly had elastic on the waist band making them not ideal for use at the non-nude beaches..

I have been on the hunt for some good fitting trunks. They are either too boxy too long too short or just too European if you know what I mean. These are by far the best. I'm 6'1" 190 and I went with the 32. The 34 fit good but the leg opening was larger than I wanted. The waist band has stretch so don't be overly concerned. Will be rocking these for many future summers.
