It will bring 12 cups of water to a rolling boil in 15 minutes. similar to the gas range. I don't have any use for all the settings (simmer, fry, etc), and find accessing them confusing. I just use the watts number control, I would prefer fewer buttons and lites and smaller unit. The ad originally said that minimum temp is 250 deg, though the unit says minimum 350deg. After I wrote to ask about this, they replaced the ad, and denied that it said that. iac, indicated temps are likely not reliable (like any hotplate) and I find that it simmers a small pot of food ok. Fan continues running for about 10 minutes after shut-off, supposedly to extend life of unit. Fan is not terribly loud. Too early to know about build quality. So far, I am happy with it.

.Maintaining heat is easy with this cook top. It maintains temperature very well. It recovers well when adding veggies and sauce after cooking meat. I like the quality build of this unit. The look is very contemporary.Our "prosumer" stove was becoming intermittent and needed servicing. This was to serve in a pinch to temporarily sit on the powered off stove.Frankly, I have grown to rely on this sitting on top of the now serviced stove. When something needs careful heat control, this unit does great! It can store away easy and it was brought along on a state park camping excursion because it runs at 110Vac with a grounded standard three prong plug.Overall good quality. The child lock is a good feature. It's obvious safety was a forethought when it was designed.

I set the burner to the book setting, and after 30 minutes the water still wasn't even close to boiling. It was hot but not boiling. Good point is that you can increase the burner temps 100 degrees at a time, so I'll be able to play around with what temps will work to coom with. Overall great looks and it will cook well with manual manipulation of the temps, but the presets are not well configured.
