In the attached video you can see this tester easily tells the difference between the wet and dry pieces of wood. I have no way of determining the accuracy of the readings but they seem reasonable. However, when inserted into wet wood, an alarm goes off and the reading says "HI". But there is no explanation in the directions of at what level "HI" is determined (maybe above 40% moisture?) or if the beeping coincides with a HI reading or indicates too wet to be accurate.

Wish I had this couple years back. I had a huge slab leak and cost me a lot. Later another leak at my relative's place where I diagnosed. Both costed a lot. The professional used a moisture meter similar to this. I may have a leak from the replacement pipes. This moisture meter has helped me check the walls in that repair area. I first verified that it was working correctly by testing my sink area.The moisture meter is simple. It only needs to be powered on. Then touch the target object or all with the two metal tips. Check the reading. Very simple. As my leak was repaired, there was another pipe still in the slab and my new piping may be leaking. This meter helps keep a piece of mind. Just have to move the meter along slowly and check readings. It should be 0 and increase as it detects moisture.The meter is powered by a 9V battery. It comes with two spare pins and a wrench. It is a small handheld that is pocket-size. This is a must have if you had a leak or own an old home. It could save so much money for anything dealing with or suspect moisture issues. Get one even if you hear water drops inside the drywall in your previous repair area, esp if you do not have any access to peek. It will be worth it.

Got this to check on wood dryness to burn seasoned wood in my new wood stove. Never saw one of these before, but people with stoves swear by them. Comes with instructions, spare pins, wrench, suede cloth drawstring bag, 9volt battery. There's a plastic cover over the pins. Install the battery and turn it on. There are different "modes" to test moisture content in everything from wood, to concrete, brick, mortar, gypsum. Last one is for sheet rock I think. I'm using it on split wood. You have to press the pins in firmly to get a good reading. Super easy. It's working well for me.

I have been trying to track down a moisture/mildew smell in my home that was driving me crazy, almost to the point of ripping down all my drywall, which would have become a very expensive solution. The Noyafa digital moisture meter was a great alternative. It took a YouTube video to understand exactly how to use it. At first, I was way too gentile and was getting inaccurate readings. To make it work, the deeper the pins are planted into the surface the deeper and more accurate the reader. I found the drywall areas that had been absorbing water from a mini-split condensation line leak. Mold started on the inside of my wall but the painted side never showed moisture damage. A great tool for any "handyman" type person.

We have huge loads of slab wood delivered that we cut and split for our wood stove (our main heating source) and need to know how seasoned it is.We've been going by weight and smell.This meter tells at a glance what the moisture content is so we can stack accordingly.Works very well.Hubs is very happy with it.

This works great to detect moisture in different materials. I used it mostly to test wall plaster because I had a feeling that I had a leak behind the wall and this little meter confirmed it. It's simple to use and it works fast. Just be sure to read the instructions, they tell you which mode to use for each material to get an accurate reading.
