Cracks Macadamia nuts as advertised. Takes a little hand strength, but cracks shell without damaging the nut inside. Simple, strong construction looks to be long lasting and the price is right. Highly recommended.

I got this because it said wit cracks Walnuts. This might be the case for English Walnuts but not American Black Walnuts. The problem is the press (part that screws down) is fixed and not concaved. As it turns the nut just wants to roll out of the socket. If the press were concaved and allowed to spin freely as the bolt is tightened I think this nut cracker could work keeping the nuts from trying to roll out. I would not recommend anyone spend their money on this because the basic plier style nut crackers will work better.

I bought two different types of nut crackers and this one worked the best. However, I ended up using a SHORT 3/4" pipe clamp. Worked perfect!

It's certainly sturdy, but since the design leaves both sides wide open you have to hold the nut in place or it will simply roll off the side, and even then, it's very awkward to use.
