This is the third such set that I have now completed by this manufacturer. After a pair of restaurant themed kits, I selected this garden kit because it offered new challenges. Plus with the 2 bunnies you make as impish visitors to the grounds, it felt like it was an Easter themed activity that was timely. There's a bunch of flowers and plants to create in this kit. The hardest were the roses which require making small circles, then cutting out a spiral and then roll the paper into a tight bundle. I felt like I got better over time. It was also a skill that I felt could transfer over nicely into making similar fondant flowers and it actually worked!I'm learning from more seasoned miniature dollhouse crafters that you can customize when appropriate. Other kits tend to have extra parts that can be scavenged into other sets. I didn't like how one of the flowering plants looked so I used some other materials on hand to make a plant that I was happy with. I also substituted a gift bag with a bag of seeds that seemed more appropriate for an outdoor setting. This kit comes with the best modeling glue I've encountered since I started this hobby 4 months ago. Not every kit from this company includes the glue, and I can't figure out where I can buy more of this stuff. So I use it sparingly. . I hate that it does string a bit when you pull away from what you are gluing. But it dries the quickest of any similar adhesive and works on almost any type of material, except for a few fabrics. You'll need an Xacto knife and some materials for electrical work that are not included. 3 LR44 batteries are needed for illuminating the very bright porch light. Electrical tape for covering the copper wires are also needed for safety’s sake.

I love doing these kinds of crafts - miniature rooms, book nooks, 3D puzzles - and I have A LOT of them. Not all of these crafts have difficulty scales and they SHOULD. There are beginner typed ones which are essentially snap togethers and then there are really hard ones where you basically have to make everything from scratch and there is a lot of measuring and cutting - like plants, books etc. This one errs on the side of hard. I wouldn't put it at a 5 but it's definitely a 3-4. It's a cute build but there's a whole sheet of cutting - thankfully a lot of it isn't too hard but you're going to need miniature hands and miniature scissors for some of the items. Like I said, not too bad - I've done much worse. AND a plus - it comes with glue!! So many kits don't for some reason. And the price is right as well. A craft with this much detail is worth every bit of $15.So I recommend this as long as you know what you're getting into. There's a lot of cutting (why they can't make these perforated I have no idea - I probably would have given it 5 stars if they were) and you're dealing with some tiny pieces.

Don't let the tiny size fool you. These Corner of Happiness miniature kits are actually some of the most difficult to build. They are a 1:24 ratio and all but a few of the details need to be built by hand. Once the details are put together everything else goes together magically to create a detailed miniature scene. If you love putting together details from scratch you will love these kits. The detail building takes a lot of focus. Once you have done one you'll see that there is a "formula" for how the build flows and the ones that follow your first are less frustrating. This review is for The Elegant Studio. It's a bit of a departure from my usual garden or magic theme builds, but I was looking for something a little different, and this was just too sweet to pass on.It comes with everything except button batteries and although some of these kits come with tools this one did not. You will need a straight edge/Ruler, a small sharp craft knife or scissors, and a set of tweezers. I find having toothpicks on hand for applying glue in small precise amounts is helpful. An old expired credit or gift card is a handy tool for smoothing flat paper details like walls and floors when glueing to a surface. The preprinted details are on paper that has to be carefully cut out and glued. There are no stickers. Instructions are pictorial with minimal wording. These are kits for experienced miniature builders so there is no hand holding. Pretty much it shows what you need, the order to put them together and the finished effect. You figure it out from there. The packages are labeled so finding what you need in the kit as you need it is very easy.If you have extra detail parts saved from another kit, or want to purchase 1:24 miniature figures you can easily customize your Corner Of Happiness by adding a few things or substituting. Try placing things as indicated first then make adjustments from there. Professional artists have designed these kits so that the final product done as designed will be satisfying. The Dust Cover that comes with these is three sided and a roof. The back wall serves as the 4th outer wall when the cover is on. Do not glue the cover down to the base. It is meant to be able to be removed for a closer look. The acrylic can accumulate spots of glue and fingerprints but once the glue used to put the cover together is dry it is actually very easy to clean up the whole things with eye glass cleaner on a clean cloth. These take a while to build. When they say one day they mean 24 hours total hands on build time. And that isn't counting the time for glue to dry. Best to allow over night for a full set and easier to handle pieces. The glue included is a "mystery glue" . The label is all in Chinese. So unless you know Chinese or have someone who can read it for you I highly recommend just substituting Aleene's Tacky Glue. I use either the 3 in 1, or a combination of the Quick Dry formula and the Clear (especially for the dust cover). Aleene's is available here on Amazon, doesn't have a lot of fumes if any, and is non-toxic and safe around pets. (Especially birds that are sensitive to the fumes from many craft glues). If you find yourself confused at any point or having difficulty there are step by step build videos by experienced miniature enthusiasts on line. These finished kits are just amazing, and they don't take up a lot of space. At $14.99 these are a great value and a very satisfying hobby. Do one and you'll be hooked!
