Perfect replacement for factory part and much cheaper. Tough, long lasting. Depending on your trimmer might need a third hand.

Good price, instructions could have been better for my weed trimmer but it does replace the OEM properly by using some of the OEM parts.

I didn't need to do anything to it just put it on it already had the string it even came with an extra center screw I didn't need it but if I do now I have a spare. It only took me 2 minutes to put it on, I think it's a better quality than the one that was on it and it was a good price.

This was an exact replacement for my 400 Shindaiwa Weed Eater. Couldn't find one local. Price was reasonable. Product works great. Always make sure you model is included in the list of what it will fit. So far, I've had good luck with buying parts for equipment and appliances using that method.

I like the cost of it, the speed-feed function and that it fits my Makita XRU15 without any adapters.(I think it is M10x1.5 LH thread)You just have to insert an allen key or some other form of pin in the side of your trimmer head and unscrew the old head against the rotation direction of the head when it is in use.It feels solid and sturdy, but time will tell...I used it in some rough terrain with sharp rocks and they, of course chew on the trimmer head. that is to be expected.but it has the same problem as the original makita trimmer head. it constantly unwanted throws out a lot of cord when it bumps and object, which of course happens in rough terrain constantly.is it only me that uses the lawnmower on flat, easy accessible terrain and when it is inaccessible, bumpy, rough or has the potential of containing objects that would damage the blade of the lawnmower to use the trimmer?the original trimmer head only became usable after taking it apart and extending the pring in it to give it more pressure. the result of that was that I only could release cord when the trimmer was at full speed or I had to give it full speed to release cord. but this solved the problem of constantly unwanted throwing out cord. i need to see if such repair to this head is possible.it's great for the price, I will probably be ordering another one if it holds up some time, and if I can get the spring-pressure corrected somehow. just be aware of this condition and prepared to repair the head to make it usable in rough, bumpy terrain.I would otherwise say, without knowing about longevity yet, that this has the potential to be a 5-star head.Update:downgrade to one star.the second day i have used it my strings broke off. I then took the cap off to find the ends of the string again.I re-assembled it and hit the cap with the palm of my hand. Then about 1 minute into trimming the head separated.when I tried to assemble it again then one of the clips was broken off.so it didn't last even 2 hours ...

Direct fit for my old shindaiwa t230x. So far no complaints. Prob used 8 hours so far and no problems. Using .080 triangle shaped yellow line by Shakespeare. To refill with line, you leave the cap on, line up the arrows to the string eyelets, and feed line thru (about 10ft thru the other side of .080). Then twist the head to wrap the line inside.Plastic fells nice. It's thick and rigid. Feels like it's as well made as other name branded versions of the same product.I made a few minor mods during install that I highly recommend:1. Carrage bolt with lock but thru the head where it contacts the ground. Saves the plastic from getting chewed up from ground contact.2. Dab of silicone on the string eyes to hold them in their slots if/when you take the cap off. One stayed out out of the box, but the other kept falling out, so I hit them both with a dab of gasket maker to hold them in place. Glue or something would do the same.3. Stretch the spring! One of the biggest complaints I've seen is that the line shoots out, or feeds with the slightest bump. Grab two pliers and stretch that spring out about half an inch or so..to your preference. I go about an inch. Just make sure you stretch it so it's still stands pretty straight at the ends.. u don't want it all bound up in there throwing balance off. And if u over stretch it, the cap can be difficult to get off and on.

I have a Shindaiwa T242 trimmer which was manufactured/purchased in 2007. I have used this trimmer extensively and the bottom of the head finally wore down so thin that the inside structure was starting to show through openings in the plastic. This replacement head is about 1 inch smaller in diameter than the original and holds less trimmer string than the original (approx 15 ft of .96 versus 20 ft on the original). Before buying, I accessed the Shindaiwa web page to try to determine what replacement was recommended; this was the closest model that I could see offered. The installation adaptor included with this replacement head is not the same size threading as on the original that I have. It may fit later models of Shindaiwa (or other brand) trimmers, but definitely not mine from 2007. In order to make this one work on the head shaft thread, I disassembled both heads and swapped the internal hex sided mounting nut located in the top section of the head. Fortunately the hex nut is the same size in both the old and new units. Doing this allowed the new trimmer head to be mounted on the old head threaded shaft. It works, but I was disappointed in the reduced size and reduced string capacity, and can only give it a 3 rating based on the effort I had to go through to get it to work.
