I'm a beginner on the instrument, but I think this drum sounds as good as any other I've heard live and in videos. Was initially worried that the synthetic head might sound too "tinny" for what I wanted, but it doesn't. The sound is sharp and bright where it needs to be, and deep and resonant where it needs to be. Seems well crafted to last a good long time. Gonna have fun practicing and learning the instrument, and can't wait for my local drum circle to begin in late Spring.
