After registering the sim, I was emailed a local Canada number. As soon as I got to Vancouver, it starts working. Yay!

I cannot express my frustration with this episode. This product was not as advertised. I wrote two emails to the company regarding this product one before and one after purchase. Both responded that it was all that I read. Well It was nothing like I had read. I had to call the support center three times, all to no avail.I could not "sign up" so that I could activate the sim on the desired date. I finally discovered, after the third call, it was not a gophone sim it was a Telus SIM card. You cannot activate a Telus SIM card in the US, period. And guess what you can't activate it in Canada either because your phone won't work without the sim being activated. I returned the card and re-ordered the same hoping to receive a go phone SIM card. If I don't get the right one I'll have to find a Telus store in Canada and have them activate it for me. Extra time, travel and cost. I'll let you know what I get when it arrives and whether to buy one with the conditions I just listed.I am revising my first review. Upon arrival of the second SIM card I opened the package and again it was a Telus SIM card. I wrote two more email to phone box. The first acknowledged my email and question. The second email I received attached a form to fill out to activate the card. Lo and behold it worked. Two days later I received an email with my Canadian phone number. On arrival in Canada I powered down the phone, changed out the SIM card and restarted my phone. Its worked exactly as advertised. I called the US and sent a text too. Both actions resulted in the desired results. So bottom line is it is a real puzzle getting the sim set up and activated. But it worked, as I mentioned, exactly as advertised. The interaction with the staff at phone box was prompt, though they assume everyone is a computer whiz. In the end they saw that I was set up and ready to go. I CAN AND DO recomend this service if you are going to Canada. Thanks Phone Box.

This worked really well for our 3 week holiday in British Columbia and Alberta. The main thing I wanted it for was to use sat nav in the car and navigation when we were out and about, and there was easily enough data for that. We used it every day but still used only 1gb of data over the three weeks. Very easy to register a couple of days in advance of our trip, and I slotted it in when we were on the plane when we were about an hour away from landing and it was immediately available when we landed. Clear and easy communication too about what my number was while we were away

I normally visit my brother in Ottawa during Fall and Winter and find myself cycling and/or x-country skiing in and around the city. I needed to be in touch with family and friends while undertaking these activities, but I found it was too expensive to get my UK phone plan cover extended for my stay.So I undertook some research to see if I could identify a solution that was, inexpensive, easy to setup, and didn't require an additional device!I concluded that the PhoneBox Preloaded 15GB Canadian SIM Card | 30 was a possible solution!Further review confirmed that it was easy to set-up (on arrival in Canada) , allowed and gave me the right level of scope re data for calls, text, Internet etc. and the clincher was that SIM card fitted into the dual SIM port on my existing phone - so no need to purchase a Canadian based phone!!I got the SIM card sent to my Canadian accommodation address: put into my phone ( easy to do) , registered it via their app on the WEB : received a phone number and then selected the additional card as my new default SIM card on my phone for the period of my holiday (This only took a took a minute) .Then OFF I went! The cover of this particular SIM was 30 days - and it more than spanned my three week break. It meant I could use Google Maps re directions; use flight Apps, Bus Transport Apps, texts and local etc. - without utilising internet at airports and cafes.Although I am IT technical - this is definitely a solution for the non-tech folks out their!A great solution and it worked a treat!

I recently took a cruise from Boston up to Quebec and wanted to maintain phone service while visiting Canadian ports in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec. I wasn't out to do any serious downloading or streaming but wanted to simply maintain my communications while visiting the various ports. This preloaded card through Phone Box provided me decent coverage in each port stop and when needed, allowed me to access the internet to bring up some data.My only negative comment was that I was not able to see the amount of data that I was using. The couple times I tried to log into my account, it stated that the data usage was not available. With 15 GB of data available, I was not in the least concerned about running out, over my 30-day period of service, I was only in ports maybe 13 days, so I wasn't worried about running dry or needing to re-up.For my use, I found the service to be excellent and would highly recommend it. I will look for their service when the need arises in the future.

Follow the instructions that come with the SIM card to activate via a computer it prior to travelling - you specify the date that you need it to be activated and when you arrive in the country, just insert/enable the SIM card and within a couple of mins it'll start working. I can verify that it came with the 8GB of data as promised and lasts for 30 days.I've used these on two separate trips to different parts of Canada and it's worked perfectly both times (first time took ~5 mins to start working, second time worked straight away). I will purchase again for future trips. The only thing I would say is it's not cheap (all Canadian SIM's are expensive, so it's not a bad deal). Watch the price for a while before purchasing, as I've seen it fluctuate quite a bit on Amazon (I paid £24, but have seen it at £37!).

I had a few concerns prior to purchasing the card. But, the Amazon community responded kindly and I decided to buy the SIM card. Here were my concerns, and what actually happened.1. Does the 30d period start from date of purchase or activation? Date of activation. I didn't activate the card for more than a month after purchase.2. I would be in Canada 2 days. Could I activate the card a day ahead of that? Yes. I got online, started an account a week ahead and I set the activation day for one day before the day I would be in Canada. At 3:30am of the activation day, I received the Canadian phone number from Phone Box. Once I crossed the border, I took out the US SIM card and put in the Canada (PhoneBox) one.3. Will I mess up removing the old SIM card and inserting the Canada one? It was very, very simple and took about 15 minutes. Half of that was removing my Otter Box. I did have to reboot/restart the phone twice for full activation, but it worked! I just put the US SIM into the envelope that had held the Canada one and stowed it for my return.4. Will I only have data? Or, will I be able to make calls and send text messages too? I could make and receive calls and text messages to/from the States. My phone apps worked flawlessly, without WiFi, using only 0.5Gb of data during my stay.5. Will I be able to put my old SIM card back in when back in the States. And, would it work? It was easy to put the US SIM card back in too. Had to restart the phone twice again and it worked. This time I did it out of the trunk of my motorcycle at a US gas station. It took about 15 minutes total.6. Would the Canada SIM work in the US once back? It worked for about 5 miles into the US, but then no coverage. This was exactly as anticipated. The network was Rogers and I had 5G coverage the whole way. I even rode the ferry and had a strong enough signal for all my needs during the two hour trip. This card did more than I expected and I will certainly be purchasing again for my next Canada trip.

This was my 3rd international trip this year. Anytime I travel I buy a sim card so I can get data while abroad. I installed the sim card per the instructions and got a local phone number to work. However, I could not connect the the data. I contacted customer support on my first day. After some basic trial and error they told me they reset my credentials and to go through the setup again after 24 hours. Losing a whole day without data with no other recourse is not an appropriate "solution" to me. However, after 24 hours I tried again and I still could not connect to data. I gave up completely since I didn't have the time to waste with customer service again. This sim card was a complete waste of money for me. Especially aggravating since as I stated earlier I have had two other international trips where I used sim cards without any issue. Do not waste your money on this product like I did.

I recently migrated one post-paid and three prepaid services (for coworkers) to PhoneBox and the process could not have been any easier. For example, my wait time for customer service (to port my numbers over) never exceeded 10 or 12 minutes and it only took 3 keystrokes on the dial pad to get to the correct department. The personnel were courteous, knowledgeable and true to their word with respect to the process. Aside from value, I really enjoy the 4G LTE speed on the prepaid accounts. Most other prepaid services restrict their data speeds to no more than 3 Mbps, even though they are clearly using the 4G network. With respect to THIS $40 offer for 8GB, it provides a great opportunity for anyone to try the service prior to signing over to it, as the activation is easy (read the attached instructions) and no credit card is required unless you wish to continue with the service beyond 30 days. Speaking of "30 days", my ONLY criticism is not being billed on the SAME DAY every month, but rather every 30 days. Not a big deal, just an annoyance!
