I would NOT use this with an MTB that goes on the trails. You will end up with dirt, dust, and muck lodged between the cups and plates. There's horrendous gaping, especially on the top... Not sure why they chose an insert that provided so much clearance. On the plus side, both sealed bearing cartridges easily pull out, and servicing should be straightforward. There was adequate grease packed in.This is a budget headset for sure, but not a terrible one. The bearings run nice and smooth. The seals will prevent the need for constant service, but I still would not put this on an MTB. Road bikes only (not even gravel). Stay out of the rain as well, for fear of water getting in there...
