About this item

  • Polished copper guitar slide, perfect for grinding out some gritty old blues on your slide guitar
  • Includes a piece of faux moleskin to help you size it to your finger
  • A great, inexpensive heirloom slide that produces clean, warm tones
  • Proudly handcrafted in New Hampshire, USA by C. B. Gitty

This is a "stubby" polished copper guitar slide, perfect for grinding out some gritty old blues on your slide guitar, cigar box guitar, lap steel or whatever you like to play with a slide. The slide is 1 1/2 inches (38.1 mm) in length (plus or minus 1/8 inch), and the inside diameter is 13/16 in. (0.812 in. / 20.6mm), which will fit over the first knuckle on medium-sized ring fingers. These slides have been carefully buffed and polished to a satin or semi-gloss finish (a mirror finish would just get scuffed by the strings anyway when playing), with a special metal polishing compound that leaves behind a protective film. However, with use and wear this natural copper will dull a bit, but it can easily be buffed and polished back to a nice shine. The ends of this slide have been carefully smoothed and polished as well to make sure playing with them is a comfortable experience for the user. We include a square of self-adhesive faux moleskin with each of these slides for use in sizing the inside of the slide to your finger.

This slide is an amazing slide. But it’s a $1.50 3/4” copper pipe slip fitting you can get at any hardware store, that they took the time to deburr the edges and polish. If you just want the slide, this one is worth buying. If you’re handy, you’re gonna be mad you spent the extra money on something you could’ve made at home for a lot less.

It's a slide...it slides. No sharp edges, it is round like a ring only wider. Hard to do the dishes while wearing it but great for when you want to play slide guitar.

Copper is the way to go as recommended by Dan Auerbach! Like to use it on the ring finger.

WAY too light even for a CBG, especially on wound strings. May work better on lighter gauge. For my needs, however, doesn't fly. Super thin and light, and the result is a muffled/buzzy tone on any note above the 7th fret. Tried it with my Strat for kicks and it reminded me of when I was a kid and would try and play slide with a Bic lighter. No Bueno.

"Get thee to a hardware Mongerer" wrote the Bard. Something like that, or was it, "Just see if this item is available in any hardware store". Yea, that's it. It reminds me of when I snaged a few copper nipples from the pipefitting isle. I believe this is used in the fabrication of water lines to transport hot and cold water in the walls or along the basement ceiling in your home. I could be mistaken. The best way would be to take your groovy copper slide to your local Home Depot or Lowe's and a/b it and an inch and a half (1-1/2") copper nipple. Then a/b the two pieces of copper. Too lightweight for my tastes.

The exact size and weight I was looking for to play a 3-string CBG. I added some material to the center to make the slide fit snug on my ring finger.
