I am glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews for this fitting. I bought a piece of 4" ASTM 2729 PVC thin wall drain pipe at my local lumber yard and the fitting slid easily inside. In fact, it is a little bit loose so I am going to wrap the fitting with a layer of tape for a tighter fit.

You cannot find the pipe and fittings at a big box stores, plumbing supply stories or hardware stores to fit this. You need to go to an irrigation supply company for the schedule 20 pipe and fittings. You’ll find that the pipe and fittings are less expensive than you might think

The threaded end would probably work fine, but this is pretty much the male side of the connection, the end is not flared as it is the same OD as any standard 4" connector. I've purchased the female version before and I thought I selected buy again. This is basically fills the same roll as a straight coupler.

The smooth end on this won't fit any other fitting or pipe. Not OD and not ID.Doesn't fit PVC DWV (aka S&D) pipe of Sch. 20, SD35, etc. Also won't fit pressure pipe Sch.40.Doesn't fit with dust collection 4" fittings either. Won't fit other adapters, won't fit blast gates, etc.Absolutely useless and worthless purchase.Rockler's adapters on the other hand fit perfectly.

The inside diameter is closer to 3 7/8”, it would not fit on my Delta shaper with a 4” outlet.

Not tested with solid core sch.40 PVC, but it does in fact work with sch.40 BLACK DWV. At first try it's a hair too large for the pipe, so heating up the fitting with either a torch or heat gun will allow it to become malleable and squeeze into the pipe. Once cooled, you can break the seal and cement like usual.

This adapter works very well for thin wall pvc plumbing pipe. I built my dust extraction system and these are on the ends of my drops. Makes it easy to transition to flexible pipe. I glued them on but also drove a couple screws because the thin wall sucks for gluing, not the couplings fault, thin wall is always oblong.
