order one size larger to keep mesh from touching the dog's nose. Makes acceptance easier. I tie theexcess to the collar to keep it from getting lost. Manufacturer: how about adding a small cord and clip for attachment to the collar.

I have tried MANY types of puzzles for my poop eating border collie rescue. She needs a mesh or mostly solid type, otherwise she just smashes the "basket" into poo and can still enjoy a treat. I have found that the mesh ones are much softer, thus her being able to hook a toenail on the side of them, and pull them off. I have tried over 15 different ones! (THANK YOU PRIME DELIVERY AND RETURNS!)THIS ONE, however is more sturdy, and is nearly impossible for her to get off. She has achieved getting it off a few times when I didn't notice her working on it while she was in the yard... but I have found that looping the muzzle clasp over, then under her collar before snapping it keeps it on 99% of the time. So happy I don't have to chase her in the yard while she tries to eat her puppy sister's poop treats on the run!Definitely worth the $, if you need a soft muzzle that stays on nearly every use!

I am using this to keep my dog with megaesophagus from eating grass, rabbit poop and the like when outside. It works great for this purpose. I still need to monitor her as she can access puddle water through the grill, and one of my other dogs tries to help her remove it *eye roll. My one complaint is that the side material becomes difficult to clean over time as it becomes worn in. The outdoor grime seems settled in and won’t budge. While it might look dingy, it still serves its purpose. I ordered a second “good” one for public outings. Lol

Changing rating: After less than a week my Standard Poodle puppies have already managed to nip holes in the front mesh, not only that, but they often work this muzzle off. I think it needs another strap or something. Even when cinched down so tight their nose is pressing on the mesh, they manage to get it off. The bigger size I used for a few weeks worked better in a way, since they couldn't reach the mesh to chew it as easily (they jam their nose into the ground hard enough to get the mesh up against their teeth. They're kinda stubborn). However, the larger muzzles were so large, I was afraid they could get their feet up in them. I'm trying Pro-Guard's Tuffie Muzzle - Size 3 by Proguard Pets next. I like the padded nylon aspect. And this still keeps the puppies from eating bad stuff for the most part.Original review:Great soft muzzle that I use to keep my dogs from eating things in the back yard. I don't know why they think they have to eat everything, but I hope that habit goes away as puppyhood and teething passes. But until then, this muzzle keeps them from eating things that make them sick. I go out with them, but no matter how closely I watch and how much I work on keeping the yard clean, they sometimes manage to gulp things down. These save me some serious stress and some nasty clean-ups.I ended up buying a couple of different sizes. The large seems to be the best size for my standard poodles.NOTE: I modded this muzzle to make it work better. I have large standard poodles, and the clip for these muzzles fell right beneath their ears. That made it hard to see clearly as we put these on, plus it made it easier to accidentally catch hair or part of the ear in the clip while snapping it shut. To get around this, I did a fix that probably took 5 minutes a muzzle. On the shorter side, the strap is doubled from the muzzle to the buckle/clasp. I unsewed where the strap met the muzzle and where the clasp was attached. I then let the strap out to its full single length, reattached the clasp at the very end, and then sewed the muzzle back to the strap where I had removed the sewing to loose the doubled strap. This made the clip/clasp hit at the back of my dog's heads, rather than directly under their ear. It's actually where these things ought to buckle in the first place, imo.

I bought this muzzle for my dog who has allergies to replace the Elizabethian colar I used to use. He hated the E collar, and so did my knees. I put the muzzle on him when I can't keep a watchful eye on him like when I shower or when I leave him with my mother, who never keeps a good eye on him. I love this muzzle and he doesn't mind it either, the yellow material is made of a plastic canvas that easily wipes clean. The inside and the black trim that is piped around the opening are both a soft material. The mesh part had me nervous, i was expecting it to be plastic and scratchy and was a little worried it might irritate his nose but it's actually a soft rubber type mesh and my dogs nose isn't long enough to touch it anyway. When I leave him with my mother I tell her to make sure to remove it several times so he can eat and drink, but If your dog is crafty (like mine) my mother found out he can still drink with this muzzle on, he just sicks his face in the water bowl and allows the water to come through the mesh and drinks normal - so if you're somewhere where taking the muzzle off isn't a good option in theory your dog could at least still have some water.I noticed there's no sizing information, so for those of you who aren't sure what to buy I went to the progaurd website before purchasing mine to check, here is there chart with recommended sizesXSmall Black Muzzle:Circumference of the XSmall is 6-1/2"For Yorkies, Chihuaua & other Min Toy Breeds with similar size snouts.Small Blue Muzzle:Circumference of the Small is 7-1/2"For Minature Poodle, Bichon Frise, Minature Schnauzer, Shelties, Yorkies, Cavalier Spaniels & other Miniature Breeds with similar size snouts.Medium Orange Muzzle:Circumference of the Medium is 9-1/2"For Small Beagles, Fox Terrier, Keeshound, Whippets, Westirs, Jack Russels, Standard Dachshunds, Standard Poodles, Lhasa Apso and dogs with similar size snouts.Large Green Muzzle:Circumference of the Large is 11"For Border Collie, Large Beagles, Springers, Cocker Spaniel, Fox Terrier and dogs with similar size snouts.X-Large Yellow Muzzle:Circumference of the X-large is 12-1/2"For German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Labs, Golden Retrievers, Huskys, Doberman, Wolfhound, Setters and dogs with similar size snouts.Giant (Jumbo) Red Muzzle:Circumference of the Giant (Jumbo) is 16"For St. Bernard, Great Dane, Newfoundland, Bull Mastiffs, Great Pyreness and dogs with similar size snouts.
