I knew nothing about Geiger Counters before ordering this, but I wanted one.The instructions alone made me very familiar with this device and understanding what measurements is was reading. The controls are very simplistic and make navigating the menu a breeze. The quality of the meter and its accessories are very nice. The USB cable is braided with branded port connectors (a nice touch) and the buttons are very responsive. The manual includes what the acceptable exposure rates are to further your understanding if you are a novice like myself.I had no issues with battery life as I used it to test various objects around the house and shop for about an hour. The device is easily recharged with the provided USB C cable.*5 stars for a good quality product that I feel is valuable to have these days.

This radiation detector seems like it’s great if you know what you’re doing. However, if you’re a novice in this sort of thing, like I am, it’s mystifying. I read all the instructions, and since I don’t know all the different kinds of radiation terms, I can’t figure out what is considered a safe level and what isn’t… and what measures what! However, before I even got to that part, there is, in bold print, a statement: “Note that the calibration function needs to be performed by a professional.” Well, that stopped me right there. For me this seems like too much work just trying to do the simplest thing with it. It doesn’t say that it can be used without calibration, so I’m not going to even try. Also, where does one take a device like this to be calibrated?A video of how it works and what the numbers and other things mean (and “safe” amounts) would really have been helpful. The box it comes in is great! It keeps the unit safe with the padding. It even has a slot for the charging cable. I’m sure someone with more knowledge of radiation detectors would find this very useful.

I don't have any uranium or other radioactive materials around to test the accuracy of this device but as far as I can tell it is pretty accurate and sensitive enough for most casual needs.Around my house I end up with readings of 0.01-0.02 which is pretty much in line with what I can see as background noise, it does seem to pick up stray background particles as it will "bip" every so often as something is registered, I did test a few older antique items which had leaded glazes and old clays and got readings of 0.02-0.03 but can't say if that's just a statistical inaccuracy. The packaging and construction is very high quality and the included cable is certainly a premium compared to the cheap cables that usually come packaged with devices. I'm really looking forward to being able to take this out as I explore more places and perhaps see if it can help locate some older antiques or interesting pieces but for now I'm reassured to know that my residence is free from any radioactive material in or around it (Particularly in the basement where sometimes natural rock formations can be (very) mildly radioactive

What a strange item to buy, well, I say buy, it was part of the Amazon Vine program, where we are gifted the item and in return we have to give a full and honest review of it.well, how do you review something that you have no idea if it is actually working properly or not, as it is, I got this for my dad, who lived about three miles away from the Sizewell A, B and now C power stations, I have family that work on the sites as well, so being prepared is a must these days as you really never know.It comes in a rather sturdy case, with the unit set inside a lot of foam rubber to keep it safe and sound, there is a very long cable and a rather large manual, when the unit is first turned on it goes straight to the "measure" screen which straight away gives you a reading of radiation detected in real time and the dose rate per hour and for the total time of the measurement period, so very detailed. The rates generally stay the same unless you put it near something that might cause it to rise a little, I have had a play, and found the AEG unit to be very well made, quite sturdy and well put together, it is concise, gives you all the info you could require and I suppose for the price, which would have been around the £60 mark, is not bad, and good when you remember what it is to be used for. When my dad has his birthday, he will be getting this, and I know he will enjoy using it everywhere he goes, as he like gadgets, and this one is very applicable for the location he lives.I am very happy with the unit, it works well, seems to be very well made, and is a quality brand, I am very happy and will easily recommend this to anyone that may be after such an item.

This is a well packaged little product. The device is small, smaller in height and width than most cell phones, though much thicker. It comes in a well-padded strong case. Pro-tip: it's packed snuggly, attaching the provided wrist strap makes it easier to take out of the case.It comes with a clear and easy to read manual. It seems daunting, because it is a thick manual, but that's only because it's many languages. It's 15 clearly written pages. The unit itself can be as loud or as quiet as you want. By default, the particle detector beep is off (the stereotypical Hollywood "beep - beep - beep"). When on, hopefully you won't get many pings in your house, but there should be the occasional beep every few minutes or so. There are several other sound settings available as well. The display is easy to read and bright. I don't have the best eyes, and I have no issues reading even the small text on the display -- a good resolution. There is a more sensitive spot on the reader, I'm sure where the primary detector lives. It is clearly marked on the back of the counter, so you don't have to guess where to aim it when scanning an object.Testing around my house, I'm happy to say I have very little that triggers, but I do have some spots that consistently do rate a tad higher. I get very consistent increase and decrease coming and going for those two locations. Now: How accurate is it? I really can't say. I do not have radioactive test equipment to compare it to. From my view, though, with a device like this, I'm mainly concerned with "high vs. low". Being off by a few isn't critical to what I'm looking at. The manual puts it at -17% to +20% accurate. So, not a tight scientific device, but should tell you that something isn't worth picking up. It is good for X, Beta and Gamma rays.Very easy to use, turn it on and go.

First impressions upon unboxing this is a nice quality device for the current price of $56.99. It comes with a small protector case for storage which is pretty decent quality as well. The menu is easy to navigate and has good basic functionality you would expect for a meter in this price range. The meter feels fairly light at 4.1 oz and comes with a sturdy lanyard. The included USB C cable is way better quality than most other electronics. The instruction booklet is well written and easy to read. I was not able to test this against a calibrated sample but I did get some low readings off my granite countertop so I know it works.

Usually you don't want to have radioactive things lying around your house, but now that I have this I would like to have something I can use to test it. I looked at a web site for some suggestions on common household objects that are radioactive, and I don't think I have any of them (typically antique items like uranium glass, glowing watches that used radium, old lantern mantles - that sort of thing). So without a sure way to tell if it is working, I can only guess. I do get a slight reading on the meter, and it changes a little, but hard to say whether that is just self-generated noise or actual measurement of the environment. If I ever find something known to be radioactive I can see if it works. The interface is easy to use, there is not much difficulty in navigating the menus. The display is clear and easy to read - from a function standpoint and general UI design it is good. I haven't done a battery test but based on its design from a power management perspective I think it should last the indicated amount of time. The case is nice, and it is good to have a durable case for it. Overall build quality seems good. If I could confirm it works accurately I could bump it up to 5 stars, but am hesitant to do so without knowing. If you see other reviews where they test it with known radioactive material and it reads accurately, then consider this a 5 star review.

This review evaluates the “Radar-5633 Rechargeable Portable Nuclear Radiation Detector with LCD Screen” made by AEGTEST.The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) Geiger Counter radiation detector, one (1) USB-A to USB-C charging cord, one (1) wrist lanyard, one (1) hard plastic injection molded padded case, zippered carrying case, and a user manual. This meter has many uses: There are many industrial processes that use radiation sources for detection and measurement. It is good to check radiation levels to ensure that equipment and shielding are working within safe parameters. Also, if the world goes awry and they drop “the big one” descending us to a post-apocalyptic dystopian world, you will be well equipped for measuring radiation-free safe zones to live.First impressions: The overall quality of this EMF meter is excellent, with a durable, hard ABS plastic casing with non-slip side grips. The unit sports a large 1.93”, easy-to-read backlit colour TFT LCD screen. The unit is powered by an internal USB-C rechargeable lithium-ion battery that has an impressive 18-day runtime. The unit comes equipped with a low battery indicator, and the unit can automatically be set to adjustable power conservation measures (Auto power off, screen dimming, back-light sleep). The unit comes with a hard plastic carry case and a handy wrist lanyard. The unit fits nicely and ergonomically in your hand with nice non-slip grips on both sides of the unit. The unit is simple to operate: press the ON/OFF button, and the unit turns on, calibrates, and the LCD display shows its status. The unit automatically starts measuring background radiation levels. The unit records the current dose rate and accumulated total dose level. The display also has a colour horizontal bar graph (similar to what you see with a microphone) indicating the approximate strength of the radiation detected. The unit deploys the following colour-coded scale warnings: Low/Safe Level (Green), Slight/Elevated (Yellow), Severe/High Level (Orange), and Over/Off Scale (Red) visual warnings as well as a changing, intensive audible beeping. There is also a visual flashing red LED warning when acceptable radiation thresholds have been exceeded. Overall, I found the unit easy to use and accurate (from what I could tell). One thing that I really liked was a nicely sized (both in physical size and print size) and thoroughly written owner’s manual. Unfortunately, these days, most imported products have horribly written instructions or none at all!The only negative thing I found and improvement I can suggest is that the meter stores up to 100 records before it rewrites over the oldest record, with no way to download any historic data. I would recommend adding USB-C data download capability.Since I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program, I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. To determine long-term meter durability and accuracy, I intend to monitor this product over the next 12 months. Should anything change over this period, I will update this review accordingly.Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall, I am satisfied with the product; it is compact, portable, and easy to use. It is great for checking work environments for excessive radiation that can be potentially hazardous to your health. At a current price of $69.99 plus a 10% off coupon, I think it is fairly priced for the quality and functionality delivered. In summary: the “Radar-5633 Rechargeable Portable Nuclear Radiation Detector with LCD Screen” made by AEGTEST is well-made, compact, accurate, and easy to use. It delivers all this at a price that is gentle on your wallet. I would recommend this product without reservation.Pros 👍:✔ Well made from quality materials.✔ Ergonomic with non-slip grips, making it easy to hold.✔ Large 1.93” easy-to-read backlit colour TFT LCD display.✔ Very easy to set up and use – Automatic measurement.✔ Measures current/total Beta, Gamma, and X-ray radiation levels.✔ Colour and bar graph visual warnings, Audible increasing intensity beeping warning.✔ Bar graph indicating the approximate intensity.✔ Low battery alert and adjustable auto power-off function.✔ Powered by an internal USB-C rechargeable lithium-ion battery with an 18-day runtime.✔ Comes with a sturdy hard plastic padded case and a handy lanyard.✔ Great price point, good value.Cons👎:✘ Stores up to 100 records before it rewrites over the oldest record. There is no way to download the data history for permanent records.Manufacturer Suggestions 🖐:✔ Add data download capability.

I wanted this device for two reasons. The first is that the world political situation has me feeling a little concerned (grew up in the 1960s), and I thought that this thing might be really useful should the worst happen. And I am a bit embarrassed because I have to admit that my second reason is simply that it is an irresistibly cool gadget.Being of an older generation, tech stuff like this leaves me feeling somewhere between stupid and bewildered, so I don't think I am qualified to comment on any technical aspects of the product. But what I can say is that it arrived with a fully charged battery. The unit itself is designed to be a good fit for the hand, meaning that it is both easy and comfortable to grasp it securely. The screen is quite large compared to the overall size of the device, and provides a display that is clear, colourful, and easy to read. The package includes a plastic storage case that feels just as solid and well-made as the detector itself. It also comes with a charging cord, and a comprehensive User Manual. One truly interesting event occurred while my daughter was helping me understand how to use the detector. She turned on her cellphone, and the detector immediately began emitting its alarm sound. However, the next time she turned on the cellphone, there was no reaction. To us, that was puzzling.Even though I consider myself old, I like to think my brain has not yet turned to total mush, and owning this device has inspired me to begin dredging up old memories from my physics classes, and also to go online and learn more about the various types of radiation, and what the different levels really mean.My one and only issue with this product is that it definitely (and quite naturally) seems to be aimed at consumers who already possess that kind of knowledge. I really would have liked a separate, dumbed-down, written for dummies set of Instructions and general information. But overall, I am finding that owning this device is giving me a slightly increased sense of security, as well as kicking parts of my brain back into action. As far as I can tell, this is a well made product that performs as advertised.

This AEGTEST Geiger counter is compact yet very sensitive for the size and being rechargeable saves on a lot of batteries. I always carry a 20K Mah power bank in my backpack/ with cables just in case I need to charge something back up- like this unit after 18 days or so. This unit is very well- made and with many functions all on the home screen is very easy to use and see in bright sunlight. I do geological mapping and prospecting and got this unit to carry along in radioactive areas and with the data logging, I have a record of exposure with the dosimeter and with the loud alarms including a constant beeping sound for particle exposure when walking around. I could never be safer from unknown radiation exposure! I have two older vintage type Geiger counters, and this unit reads very comparatively when sensing incoming particle exposure- from a small Uranium sample in my collection- but it is a lot lighter and smaller and offers so much more info- instantly. Totally love the unit and hey, I could find a new source of fuel for our American reactors- out there on public land where I could put a mining claim on it! Excellent machine for safety and security for individual and family safety! Great find!
