Here's how it's done. I add 1.5 cups water to base. Place tray next. I put one uncooked egg on tray. Top with lid. Mine does not snap tightly but no worries, it still works. I have a higher wattage microwave. I set time for 8 minutes and power level on 8 (medium high). Afterwards I am left with a beautifully cooked egg that is so very delicious. But be careful because the cooker will be hot. As far as clean up, I just dump water and rinse all parts under clean running water, no soap. Then air dry.
