This spigot is exactly what I needed to outfit my rain barrels. The construction material is a heavy weight steel. The included socket wrench head is just ingenious. I used a spade bit, slightly under-sized, to drill the hole and then bored it out to size using a cone-shaped stone bit. I happened to have a threaded broom stick handle to attach to the wrench head. I was prepared to spend a lot of time and frustration fishing around inside the barrel, down through the top hole, to put the receiving washer/nut in just the right place to connect spigot. But it was the quickest and simplest part of the process. I found myself wishing that I had more than two barrels because it was so fun and easy attaching the spigot assembly. Don't know yet about any potential for leaking, but based on the snug fit and the washer material, I don't expect any problems. Bring on those April showers!

The fixture for drilling the holes in the side of the barrel was an excellent addition to the valve. This was very clever, and I would highly recommend it for anybody else’s rain barrel installation.

This works perfectly! I was thrilled to find one of these that can be installed without cutting the top off of my barrel.

2 things make this spigot worth the price: good flow even when the barrel is low meaning there is plenty of opening through the valve, and the clever wrench. I attached an earlier spigot without securing it on the inside and it took me a long time to get it to not leak. This clever little wrench I put on the end of a broom handle fixes that issue. Tho it took some finesse to get it in the right place, once I did it worked quite nicely.

My previous assembly involved a spigot and silicone which never worked (not my idea BTW), and this barrel had openings cut already. This RAINPAL SPIGOT AND TOOL saved the day and now we look forward to good rainfall. The white plastic nut holding tool attaches to a handle of yours. This barrel already had the spigot hole drilled and a square. cutout on top. I first tried to feed the device thru the square opening, but the angle did not allow the spigot threads to screw onto the nut.The red handle was fed thru a different opening closer to the spigot hole, and I reached thru the square opening to attach the white nut holding tool which was larger than the small hole.Looking in thru the square opening shows the nut tool/white device attaching to the spigot. An extra flexible washer is provided, but not necessary. A rigid blue plastic washer helps to seat the nut into the white holder part; the blue washer may remain or not. I found it useful to hold the nut in place while I fished it down to thread onto the spigot. However, my old hands had a difficult time detaching the white holding tool from the nut. So I removed the blue washer, eased the nut out a bit, and reattached to the spigot. Took less than 30 minutes and the job was done.suggestion- if you must drill the barrel, I would make the spigot hole directly below your top opening for easiest thread alignment. The top square opening made for good visibility and will receive the diverted rainwater flow. This could have been better managed if the spigot hole was directly below the top opening, but one must think about the water diverter components too. It will look great anyway when repainted.

**My Experience:**I've been using the RAINPAL RBS005T LF Brass Rain Barrel Spigot for about two weeks now, and it's been performing exceptionally well. This spigot, featuring a ½” NPS, LF compliant, quarter-turn ball valve, came with a plastic wrench/nut holder, making it suitable for installation on closed top barrels with a bung hole.**What I Liked:**- The inclusion of a wrench in the package made the installation process much more manageable, especially for closed or narrow top barrels. I found that using a threaded broomstick with the wrench was particularly effective.- The installation was clean and straightforward, which I appreciated as it didn't require any complex steps or tools.- The extra gasket washer included in the package was a thoughtful addition. It's always good to have a spare for maintenance or unexpected needs.- Post-installation, the spigot has shown no signs of leakage, which speaks to its quality and the effectiveness of its seal.- The valve operates exactly as expected, providing a reliable mechanism for controlling water flow.**What Could Be Better:**- So far, I haven't encountered any issues with the spigot. It's been working perfectly for my needs.**Overall Impression:**Overall, the RAINPAL RBS005T LF Brass Rain Barrel Spigot is a great product. Its ease of installation, solid performance, and the inclusion of handy accessories like the wrench and extra gasket washer make it a valuable tool for anyone looking to add a spigot to their rain barrel. It's performed reliably in the short time I've used it, and I'm hopeful it will continue to do so in the long run.
