Recoil Audio premium controller LC-3 features heavy duty machined aluminum knobs. And it offers flush mount design for a clean look. Just simply connect the RCA input and output connectors between source unit and amplifiers.

I picked this RCA line level volume control adjuster up to be able to control volume level on line outputs at a location closer to me than some active speakers with speaker-mounted volume controls. Why you can trust me: I am a software engineer of weather radar and am responsible for many components of our digital signal processing and handling. I have read and understood the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook. I also have some granted patents in graph theory.I'm not at the lab with fancy test equipment, but I do have a Denon amplifier that has a volume control that displays decibels.I placed this in series with its volume control to my active speakers and compared the apparent volume using real music to simultaneous listen for any frequency spectrum coloration (I heard none). I started with about 48 decibels of headroom to increase the volume on my amplifier.I first counted the number of clicks on the knob. 40 clicks. Then I moved it all the way up (clockwise).I began to align them down the scale and built a table based on click positions and the apparent equal volume level vs what the decibel meter was reading on the Denon amplifier.clicks clockwise, decibels from unity00, -inf dB03, -inf dB04, -~60 dB (ran out of headroom)05, -45 dB06, -35 dB07, -30 dB10, -25 dB15, -20 dB20, -15 dB25, -10 dB30, -05 dB35, -01 dB37, -00 dB40, -00 dBIt appears that 3 clicks on the bottom and the top are either fully off (-inf) or fully on (-00).This is an interesting pattern that has linear characteristics for the top five adjustment levels, but from 8 to 32 it behaves logarithmically, while the lowest levels re-enter linearity to fade to infinity quickly so it can be shut off completely. This is actually a good design because it allows a wide dynamic range with predictable perceptive linearity (logarithmic power curves are perceived linearly). The fact that it also supports completely off and completely on are also positive. The slack at the top and bottom are probably for manufacturing reliability in case of minor aligment issues. As noted, my example was well-centered.1 decibel increments are totally adequate for volume control, especially for how small this is. Few amps are more granular (my Denon uses half decibel granularity).Lastly, the build quality is excellent, and the metal knob feels sturdy. The clicks are just about perfect to feel tactilely while not making it hard to adjust. I could rotate it and feel every click while still being able to move it freely. It only lacks labels. But any labels would be exceptionally tiny to be almost useless. It would be nice if they had provided more documentation on the adjustment range, but this review should suffice for guidance on that front.
