Prepackaged tips do not always match a fly fishermen's needs So, we cut tips to the needed length and weld our own loops. It is much easier to weld loops with this latest version of Rio's T-x product. H/T to Rio for recognizing this need and providing a product to fulfill it.This is a 4' loop that I made on my first attempt. The larger loop is the factory weld and the smaller one is mine. I'm happy with the results.I give it a 5 because Rio recognizes customization of its products is desirable. I encourage them to keep it up.

Way over priced but what are you going to do except buy 500' for .16/ft. and have a lifetime supply and be real popular with your buddies for having it to share. Don't expect a fly shop to buy a 500' roll to sell you bulk at bulk prices. They have to stay in the good graces of their Rio Rep. Welded loops are going to get you eventually if not right off out of your pocket book.

I got the new intouch T8 sinking tip from Rio. This is the new tip, dark red in color when compared to the old T8 tip in black.The new one has less stretch, seems a tad larger in diameter, is dark red and is "textured" on the outside (feels rough when pulled through fingers).I like the less stretching of the new one. The new red color does not seem to show under the water.The rough, textured surface helps with the casting, providing more stick on a spey cast which is also good.The slight increased in diameter may affect the sinking rate which is not good.The textured surface while great for casting, increases the water drag, sinking less and getting shallower faster due to increased friction, which is not good.So it looks to me that Rio may have traded how well the tip fishes with how well the tip casts.I may get to be a better caster, while catching less fish in the process. I am not sure I like that.
