Very functional, you just need to put vertical pressure on it what cutting the top of the egg off. Useful for all egg sizes but the cutter creates a small hole which requires a spoon smaller than a teaspoon. I also purchased 4 egg cups and 4 egg spoons on Amazon for $20. Very happy with the purchase!

I used to have one of these purchased some 35 years ago at an import store. I loved it, but lost it whem a wildfire burned my home 3 years ago. Finally found this one online. It works very well and seems well made. If you, enjoy a soft-boiled egg in an egg cup, then you will love this little topper that easily cuts the top off of your egg.

Not sure we really need this but wouldn't want to be without it! Takes top off eggs easily without getting any shell in egg. Irresistible not to play with it once it's done its job. Sharp teeth cut through egg shell neatly then retract back in to avoid damage to fingers. Even work left handed.

Along with spoons and egg cups, I gave my Dad this egg topper.He reported positive results with all except this item. Said it was "too small" and therefore did not work. I don't know how he cut the top off of the eggs to eat, but I do know that it was not with this item.I am replacing this with one that I saw with much higher customer ratings. (Should have paid attention & checked the ratings before ordering this one). The price on this one was very good, and in the picture it appears to be a well-made product. However, I'm not sure that my 9-year old niece would be able to put her fingers into the scissor-type handles; the openings are very small. And, it apparently did not 'fit' on top of the egg well enough to operate.

Solid, well made construction. Doesn't work like I expected--i.e., with blades like scissors to cut off the top of the egg shell. Instead, a circle of little teeth emerges to barely penetrate egg shell. You must then twist the device to break the top of the shell loose and remove it from the egg. Works OK.

I read several reviews before purchasing this for my mother to use on her visit. She used to eat sunny side up eggs, but switched to soft boiled to avoid having to fry eggs in fat. I saw that several users complained that this was hard to use on larger eggs, but I wasn't willing to buy the more expensive toppers for the very few times that it would be in use at my house. Turns out this is the same one that she uses at her home, and I watched her use it deftly for two weeks on AA Large eggs with no problems at all. I did end up buying egg spoons to go with this, as the hole made is slightly too small for a standard teaspoon to fit in without peeling a bit more shell off.

This is a good egg cutter. Two thing I would want to work better: The topper is not large enough to handle large ended eggs. Also- it cuts a ragged end, which leaves egg shells everywhere including in the egg. It is durable...It has already cut well over 100 eggs and is still going strong!

Since my husband returned from a work trip to Europe we frequently indulge in "eggy soldiers" and this egg topper has saved us! Before this we'd either burn our fingers or have to let the egg cool off enough to crack into it (resulting in overcooking and a cold egg) and now with this handy little tool, we just snap the top off leaving a the perfect size hole to dip toast or an egg spoon into. We've only had one egg that didn't cut because it was a funny shape, otherwise, this works perfectly!

This was a waste of money. It is poorly designed and almost impossible to hold comfortably at any angle that will "top" the egg. The finger holes are too small (and I am a small handed woman) and they are sharp, stamped metal that hurts when pressure is applied to make the scissor action happen. The teeth that are supposed to cut the egg are not sharp enough to do so and essentially just mangle it. Plus the hole that the top of the egg goes through is so small that even the small end of the egg only gets a small amount of its top mangled off. The resulting hole is not big enough to use even a small egg spoon in to eat the egg. Mine is going in the trash because it will never be used. It is actually unusable and it is just taking up space in the drawer. Not the vendor's fault, just a horribly, poorly designed product.
