I bought these for power outages and just in the nick of time too! Hubby has Ryobi batteries in the garage so these are very useful for us and got us through an extended power outage. Hubby likes using them when working on projects in the garage too.

Great lantern. Three brightness settings, and a USB charge port. Lasts forever on a 4ah battery, no brainer if you are already using the One Plus 18v system.New** I initially got this for camping and power outages, but I started using for working in dim areas. It works way better than any of the flashlights and work lights I have.

I ordered this because when we had an outage we discovered that we were ready with oil lamps, candles, and a propane source for heating and cooking but didn't have a way to charge our cellphone without driving around in the car. With this we now have a brighter light and can charge our phone using our Ryobi tool batteries! Ta daa!This lamp shocked us with how bright it really is. Warning, Don't look at it when you turn it on. Thank goodness it has 2 lower settings if you keep clicking the button. My husband took it outside and held it above his head and turned it on. He was impressed at how far away the light made things visible. And it's small. We laughed when we got it. Now we realize the size is very convenient and easy to store.It has a USB port so you can charge your phone or use that tool battery for what you want. No more driving around in the car just to charge our cellphones.Thanks Ryobi for great products.

Before our winter storm here in Portland Or, I bought one of these and a few other Ryobe One+ lights from Home Depot. I then went to all the nearby Home Depot’s and zeroed them out and resorted to ordering more here from Amazon.I have several 4 Amp Hour batteries. The lamp has three settings. I didn’t do a scientific test, but one day when I went to work, I set up two of them. On the bright setting, the lamp was out before I got back home. On the Low setting, I still had light. And even the low setting gives nice lighting.Another reason I like these is the built-in USB charger for cell phones, or other stuff that uses the USB 5 volts. If you have enough batteries, you can have light for days and keep your cell phone charges as well.

In order to only run my refrigerator/freezers and a portable A/C unit on my generator during power outages, I have been trying to transition all my lighting needs to Ryobi 18v batteries since I have many with my tools. I've purchased most of the work lights and lanterns that Ryobi offers in the 18v one plus line and I'd have to say for emergency lighting in the house, this one is about my favorite. This throws a nice even bright light that will light up an entire room, even a large two story den. The run time on high from reviews I've read seems to be pretty decent and many reported using a lower of the 3 settings and having enough light to light up an area. I have not tested it yet for longevity, but reviews have been good and with my multiple extra Ryobi 18v batteries and small 2,000 watt WEN inverter generator I have the option to safely and continuously recharge the many batteries I have for weeks without power if need be. The large generator is there just for the fridge/freezer and A/C. No more running cords all over the house for lights in every room that aren't even as bright as the Ryobi lantern. This light is ideal for anyone with these types of Ryobi batteries and will quickly pay for itself in savings if you are trying to run anything at all with D cell batteries which have become insane in price. I experiment a ton with rechargeable LED lights, lanterns, work lights, and also rechargeable batteries in AA, AAA, C, and D cell size. I have found that since I have many Ryobi tools, this really has been the best combination for emergency lighting without incurring big expense and many different battery systems and multiple charging systems. I find myself doing away with the others and switching to Ryobi options. BTW I have the large Ryobi 18v fan which allows me to cycle the batteries when I'm not using them enough in other tools so they maintain a long life. Letting the batteries sit and never using them shortens their lifespan drastically. I ca highly recommend this lantern. This is my second one, and I will likely purchase more when they go on sale again. BTW, mine was in the factory clamshell package and was authentic RYOBI so I was surprised to get it for almost10 bucks less than normal. $31.99.
