For the first time, SABIAN brings its Freq design to a Ride cymbal. The exclusive Freq dual-lathing process results in unique, intensely cutting cymbals that deliver quick bursts of hi-frequency tone. With its large raw bell, the 21” Freq Ride delivers excellent stick articulation and moderately dry tone. Although it offers good control, the sound is more open than typical rock weight Rides. Versatile, slightly dry with a cutting bell. I love this ride. I like to play progressive rock/metal and this covers everything I need and more. I was looking at one of the raw bell dry rides when I heard this. And I knew this would be my best friend. I would say it's still part of the raw bell dry ride family, but where as they seem med-heavy on the heavy side this seems a bit more med-heavy on the med side. Still all the stick definition you want but with a bit more controlled over tones to fill out some space if you're playing a lighter slower passage. Bell is crisp and clear but not so loud it becomes obnoxious. And the rough area sounds completely different than the lathed section but works so well together. You get three completely different sounds out of it which is really cool. Best ride I've heard in a while. The 21 inch size is also perfect. Great job sabian!
