There were two carving designs to choose from. They sent me the one that I didn't pick. The sound is pretty good. It came with the tag saying it was made in Indonesia though, which was disappointing.

I didn’t give a 5 star because i don’t believe the head to be true goat skin. None the less it delivers with out a doubt! Deep thick bass and loud crisp rim snaps and pops. Beautiful solid as a rock Mahogany wood. I do think that the rope has some nylon or poly material in it which I’m not a fan only because I try to use as little plastic as possible. Other than that for the money it’s an amazing professional djembe for starters to experts

A Beautiful drum but it’s all mahogany wood so it was very heavy. I returned it but had I been able carry it, and didn’t have a weight lifting restriction I would’ve kept. It is beautiful drum and drum head skin was very good

I play in a drum circle and wanted my own drum. I find the larger drum (height and diameter) easier to hold. This is advertised as 12", but when it came, it did not look 12". I measured it, and to the outside of the skin is 10" diameter. If you measure to the outside of the knots, the diameter is 11.5". So it is smaller than what I wanted, but still nice. One other caution - The rope handle was not tied to the tuning rope. The rope on each end of the handle was just tucked into the tuning rope. When I picked it up, the rope came loose and the drum almost dropped. You'll want to check that right away. It has a nice sound, though.
