It does not work as well as I expected but it works pretty well and better than the old plastic cup I was using before.

Design is fine, but the unit it too small. Maybe can hold a lot of sand, but I would guess only about 16oz of salt. Once scoop will do your front steps, but to do an entire walkway or driveway we are talking a dozen trips back to the bag of salt. (I'm 5' 8", so my hands are not huge).

This product was very eay to use for my rock salt it was an icy winter. I plam on using it for seeding my yard this spring.
