  • Crystal-Clear Articulation: Balanced lows, smooth midrange, and sparkling highs cut through any mix—perfect for blues, rock, jazz, and studio tracking.
  • 4-Conductor, Solder-Free Wiring: Color-coded leads let you split coils, reverse phase, or tap outputs in seconds, no soldering required.

Can’t ever go wrong with Duncans. Antiquities are absolute monsters if you’re smarts with your wiring choices.

Been experimenting for several years with floaters on my Hofner Jazzica, finally decided to cut beautifully carved top (OMG 😱). And didn’t regret)). The pickup sounds very articulated, focused, still acoustically rich (it’s not wax potted), bright (pleasantly), and sweet at the same time.Someone may find it looks a little “over-aged”, but I don’t care about look at all))P.S. For an archtop you’ll definitely need a higher mounting ring.

I really like the air/dirt combination this pickup provides! Tone is so hard to put into words, but this one gives me the range from sweet, soft cleans, to pleasing mid-dirt chime, to full on rock. It does have an "air" about it, like the pickup is breathing. (of course that sounds weird, but we're all guitar players here, you know what I mean) It's a quality I've not heard in many pickups, and I've been playing for more than a few decades.

I have a set of these in a Japanese-made Epiphone Elite Les Paul with CTS pots, paper-in-oil caps and lightweight tailpiece. With this setup, the pickups have a punchy, responsive tone that is warm and aggressive at the same time and very vintage sounding with lots of texture. They are slightly "dirty" sounding. There's a bit of built-in graininess that gives them beautiful complexity with overdrive. They seem to have a somewhat clipped attack with lots of natural bloom and gentle decay thereafter which makes them sing like nobody's business. They are very responsive to picking nuances and fretting hand pressure which makes them a great choice for a "feel" player. They will not push an amp as hard as a modern-design humbucker but that's what gives these their unique feel. Even so, they'll work for heavy styles of music through hard rock. Not the best choice for metal...unless we're talking about Led Zeppelin! ;-) They also look cool with their aged covers and polepiece screws.I've tried Alnico II Pros, '59 Models, Seth Lovers, and Joe Bonamassa Skinner Bursts, all from Seymour Duncan and I prefer the Antiquities to all of them.

Amongst all the paf clones available out there, i had found the duncan seth lovers to sound the best (my review is limited to semihollow es-335 style guitars)... until i tried the antiquity hb. It's "paf-ier": more open, sweeter, creamier, etc (you know... All those words used to describe pafs). Woman tone is unparalleled. Very sensitive to attack and right-hand dynamics. No microphonics for a moderate overdrive setting at full band rehearsing volumes. This neck pickup is stamped 2015 and the relic-ing on the pickup cover is very subtle (the 2013 bridge pickup i paired it with is way way too relic-ed, which makes me think SD has mellowed down on the relic-ing -like fender on the road worn series). DC resistance similar to seth lovers (7.29k neck, 8.34 bridge). Includes pickup rings (too curved for an es guitar, more suited for les pauls, i think) and screws. I found no info on the SD site regarding relative output (lows/mids/highs) for comparison with other similar SD pickups, but i'll go ahead and say it's the same as the seth lovers (6/4/8 from the sd comparison chart). Slightly less output than seth lovers (probably because the featured alnico 2 magnets are factory-degaussed on the antiquities). Having both a sheraton with seth lovers and a es-335 with antiquities... My life is complete (for now).

Excellent sounding pickups!! I build custom Les Pauls using stripped Gibson bodies, I just finished a 2015 cherry red LPM using these with 525k pots and orange drop caps. I'm using a real Bigsby and D'Addario NYXL 10's running through a Madison Divinity II amplifier and the sound is tremendous, my hats off to Seymour Duncan for this pickup, since it's not wax potted you can expect some feedback at high over drive but you really can't beat the vintage look or sound of this amazing pickup. If it's pure vintage tone you want drop a set of these in your guitar and you won't believe your ears. So far this beats out even my 59 VOS for sound quality and tone, just remember that if you are putting them into an epiphone get a good set of pots and caps.

Exactly what I wanted sound-wise. One star off because I don't like the pre-distressed pickup cover. The Seth Lover's an option, but it doesn't have the "aged" magnet of the Antiquity. It's a lovely, mellow, mellow PAF sound. I put it in a Gretsch, which isn't usually a place where one would find something like this and I find myself playing on the bridge pickup more than I do on any of my other guitars. And the cover's nothing a soldering iron and a few more bucks can't fix. I just wish I didn't have to go to that trouble.
