Very low power. I needed a pre-amp pedal and to play through an amplifier. There isn't enough signal to play through the sound system via direct box...even with the pre-amp pedal. That limits my usage.

This is the highest quality sound hole pickup i have ever used. I run an open mic , and people show up with in sound hole pickups that always throw off high pitched signal buzz . I purchased this to be used by those attendees who do not have an acoustic-elec guitar and it sounds flawless with no signal buzz.

the cable coming out the back is in the way.. if technically possible, it would be better coming out the bottom or top

I am using Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings on my all mahogany acoustic. This Walnut Woody XL looks look next to the Mahogany. I quickly found out that the bottom 3 strings were the only strings I could hear out of my amplifier. At first I thought it was because they had more steel in those strings and the other strings were wound. Well this pickup would be ok if I used a pair of steel strings but I don’t. I use phosphor bronze on my acoustic. Steel Strings don’t sound too good on an acoustic. Luckily you can adjust the Pole Pieces so I started adjusting. The top 3 pole pieces had so much wax in them that they weren’t making contact inside the pickup. I just turned and got the wax out and the pickup started working after that. I shouldn’t have had to fiddle with the pickup at all to get it to work. That’s just sloppy on Seymour Duncan’s part. Too much wax. I fixed something that was supposed to be brand new. I don’t want to change my strings but the output of my strings is not at all even. When I strum now I can hear all the strings. The problem is when I play single notes on the low strings. The vibration of the string does not get picked up by the pickup. If I start a scale going down from the High E string to the Low E string it sounds just fine. But if I play the scale from the Low E string to the High E string then I only hear the last notes coming from my amplifier. I think there’s some quality control issues. Definitely worth getting the adjustable pole pieces over the regular Woody pickups. It is a pain but with adjustable pole pieces you can balance out the sound coming from the strings. It’s easier to fine tune that’s for sure.
