Your cart is empty.Where snow falls, you follow. On summit bids or high-speed descents, the Smith Venture sunglasses provide much-needed eye protection in alpine environments. They're our take on glacier glasses, with removable side shields that protect against light reflecting off snow, rock and ice. ChromaPop™, lens technology offers a terrain-boosting view of every wind drift and crevasse. Autolock hinges make for easy on and off when one of your hands is occupied with an ice axe or ski poles. And then there are the iconic round frames that look just as good glissading down a snowfield as relaxing post adventure.

Great functionality, style, and sun protection but they are crafted with poor quality materials and Smith's warranty system is terrible. The plastic on the hinge broke after barely a year and I can't even figure out how it broke since I'm extra careful with all my optics and they practically live in the hard case they came with. They are pretty great when working but it's honestly not worth the risk of the purchase since the online warranty system doesn't work and the hinges seem to be a common failure point looking at reviews through other vendors.

Why are these so expensive?- I’m assuming that most all the cost basis are from the lenses (which I can’t see more than 4-6$ per unit), or perhaps they expect very low production volume, so need to spread the costs over fewer units, inflating the price. Some rationale:- they don’t block UV through the lens- the frames are made of cheap plastic- the side guards have hinges made of cheap plastic that are already getting weak after a few dozen removal/insertion- the rubber inserts to block sun on the nose bridge fall out easily and are just big globs of rubber- there’s little to no variability in pliability, breathability, etc. of the materials that come in direct contact with your skin- overall these things have a good design intent but woefully poor execution
