Last year my sister ordered me a telescoping snake hook for my birthday after watching me move a cottonmouth off the road with a sturdy branch. I got to use it 3, maybe 4 times before it broke as I was moving a diamondback out of the road. Needless to say, I was not pleased.I am not a professional snake wrangler, the only time I move a snake is if they’re in the middle of the road and in danger of getting hit. I can’t afford to invest in professional quality at the moment. So, a few things about this pole straight out of the box-Unlike my telescoping pole, this one gets put together by screwing it, which for me is a huge plus. At least I won’t be in danger of pole collapsing into me like the last one did while in use. It’s also fairly solid, and considering its price point of $14.99, I think you’re getting a great deal. Now the negative: from handle to hook, there are 4 poles that you can attach together to reach maximum length. The first three together feels very strong, and I’m confident that it will handle most snakes easily. However, when attaching that fourth pole, it stops feeling sturdy. The pole bends a little if you push against it lightly (it doesn’t with only three poles), and I question its durability. Now, it does say it’s designed to top off at approximately 8lbs, but I wouldn’t be comfortable trusting it with that weight. So my suggestion is, if you’re looking to move non venemous snakes like water snakes, rat snakes, racers, etc… you’re good.If you’re inexperienced or uncertain about recognizing venemous snakes, go to free snake relocation directory on FB and ask a pro to come on by.

You know that saying about not touching something with a 10 foot pole? Well with this snake hook you can touch things with a 4+ft pole LOL It offers you about one foot segments to screw into each other so you can make it 4+ft, 3ft, 2ft, or 1ft. I like that flexibility because some snakes you just need a foot or two to get out of their enclosure and perhaps venomous or super defensive you may want more space. This thing seems long enough at it's longest length to keep dangerous snakes well outside of strike range. I'm not sure who is going to have something on a 4ft long pole as far as holding it up or tailing it, but the length provides options and safety. I haven't tested if it can withstand the weight of my heaviest snakes yet--adult Hog Island boas-- because they just ate, but I don't see any problems with strength or ability to hold the weight. I did try to bend it with all my strength and it held up very good, no bent poles, so this is why I don't think it'll be an issue holding up a heavy body snake. Other hooks out there are just thin rods and tend to bend, but that isn't going to happen with this tank. These steel poles are really strong and they screw into each other nicely. If they happen to eventually loosen slightly with repetitive use, you could easily use a few drops of super glue to prevent that. The hook itself is rubberized to prevent injury. You might not want to use this with a super thick body, like gaboon viper or adult blood python, they need extra hook width, but this works great for everything else. Overall very happy with it, good price point, no issues.

My husband and daughter like to 'help' snakes out of the road, and this is the perfect tool for the job. They have used sturdy sticks from the side of the road, but that can be precarious - and unwise to be honest - especially when dealing with copperheads or rattlesnakes. This hook has four parts that easily and quickly screw together, allowing you to customize the length based on the situation. For venomous snakes, it's nice to have the option for extra distance between you and the snake. It's a sturdy pole when put together, even at its full length. We aren't dealing with massive snakes like boas or pythons, so I have no idea what this pole would do with that kind of weight, but for our native species it's perfect. The padded handle is a bonus for secure gripping, and I really like the rubber hook to ensure no harm to the animal. The design is flawless for our purposes, and I highly recommend this over relying on tree branches or other makeshift tools when dealing with snakes, for their safety and yours.

Amazingly built, easy to use and heavy duty for snake hobbyists and breeders as well as for removing snakes on your property. I appreciate the hook end being rubber coated and it’s on their hood for the safety of the animal. Some hooks are metal and having rubber coating is amazing.Threaded sections vs extending so very strong and I’ve used it on several of my ball pythons from baby’s to juveniles of 100-500 grams all the way to adults in the 1500-3000 gram range with one threading and the rubber hook attached. No bending and easily maneuverable with a comfortable handle and very lightweight for the amount of strength it has. Excellent value and I will order more of these and super happy with this item

This Heavy Duty Gzlozak Snake Hook will work fine to safely encourage snakes out of our yard. It can be collapsed easily by unscrewing the sections, and is lightweight but feels strong enough to be able to gently lift a snake and relocate it. The large size of the hook and the length of the pole keeps you away from the snake and the hook is rounded enough to prevent injury of the critter. It's a simple, straightforward design and will work fine for our needs. The only thing that'd make it better is if it was collapsible instead of having to unscrew the sections to make it smaller to store easily.
