I've lived in Colorado for three years now, but I've always been hesitant to drive into the mountains in winter. It's been years since I've used tire chains, and my past experiences have not been pleasant. However, this set of chains has given me the confidence to drive in the snow. They're not only sturdy but best of all, they're easy to install. During my first time using these, it took me less than 5 minutes to put the chains on each tire. the instructions were clear, and the tightening mechanism on the chains worked perfectly, just as described. They worked great on my first trip to the mountains, and I now have the confidence to go where I want, when I want, during the winter. Great purchase.

Haven't had heavy snow yet to test this out thoroughly - but I got it as a second set for an AWD vehicle, since they recommend you fit all 4 drive wheels with chains when necessary. The basic design is sound, pretty much the same mechanism as my existing set - no complaints there, they went on easy for a test fit and didn't scratch up my wheels. However, this one was more expensive than my first set but clearly cut some corners. The hard plastic case it came in was already starting to break even as I unpackaged it - the hinge had separated and the clasps were starting to go as well. It's just not thick enough to carry the weight required for these chains. My other set came with a simple cloth bag, which while a little less neat and tidy, hasn't torn or ripped under the weight of the chains. I will probably have to invest in a case for both sets of chains at some point, as the case that came with this one isn't long for this world. It also didn't come with any extra links for repairs like my other set did, though both came with some gloves. Not the kind of gloves you'd want to wear out in a snowstorm when putting these on, but they'll keep you from nicking your knuckles, at least. Overall these seem to be a solid design, but your money will go a little farther with other options.
