Available in multiple versions this review is for the 20A 500 Volt. It can be used for either DC or AC applications but reaching 500 DC volts is not something one would likely ever run across. It is rated IP65 waterproof case should allow use outdoors under most circumstances. XT60 (60 amp capable) connectors seem well made and contains all the necessary components to be waterproof. This does not mean submersible but still should handle normal weather related impacts like rain and snow. Recommended wire gauge use is 14 to 10. Waiting for a good wind driven rain to see about the water proof rating but for now we are Good-To-Go

As I continue to expand my solar panels and storage capabilities I felt as though I’ve reached or am reaching the point where I should have a disconnect outside near the panels. My panels are not putting out a tremendous amount of amperage so sixteen amps seemed pretty good for my use. In the future if that changes that’s one of the neat things about these enclosures. You can swap out the breaker with relative ease. Since I’m the curious type one of the first things I did was take this thing apart from soup to nuts. I mean it’s not a very complex device but I needed to readjust the DIN rail anyway since initially my breaker was a little out of square.Right off the bat I could tell this was solidly built as the entire case of this is a solid two mm thick. That means almost no flex, twisting or thin brittle walls after a year in the sun. That also means when you mount this to a wall it’s firmly on the wall. The wires inside look like they are of decent quality, I can’t tell the exact gauge on them due to a lack of identifying marks on my short leads. Based on experience they look and feel like twelve gauge though. The lid attaches at four corners and has a gasket on the inside of it to keep things sealed up. There are also gaskets on all four entrance points for the MC4 connectors. The only place not sealed would be where you drill holes in the back of the case to mount it, those are on you.The only items of note that initially had me worried was the clear door on the front. At first I think my unit was broken as the door only opened like an inch. It wasn’t till I started getting frustrated and forced it open further and found that it’s a very firm cam lock. Once you open past a threshold it swings all the way open and stays there. Closing is the same way. That’s on me though and since this is my first one of these I can’t say they aren’t all like that.

Update (2/24/25): Upon closer inspection, the circuit breaker module was tilted in the box. So I opened it up to fix it. Found that the one of the two mounting screws was STRIPPED. Also found that the internal wires are 12AWG (4.0mm^2), not 10AWG (6.0mm^2). On one of the four breaker lug screws, the plastic around it had been stripped too. Overall, terrible manufacturing processes, and lack of QA. 1-star, I would not recommend this item, or this company.Summary: This is a solar shut-off box for a solar panel array. The images show a comparison between this newer style (with MC4 connectors), as compared to the older with M16 connectors, but it doesn't discuss the pros/cons of the two styles, so I'll lay those out below.Discussion: While having the MC4 on the combiner box is great, it's also a potential source of failure. The fully waterproof M16 connectors would be better for a high humidity environment.Observations: This company offers 22 items, so not really a high volume, specialty manufacturer. Some of their products have fair ratings/reviews.Recommendations: Generally breaker sizing is 125% of expected load, so this 32A offering is suitable for a continuous 25A load (you want to leave margin for a surge, without tripping the breaker too low). Having reviewed quite a few of these lower cost solar combiner boxes (both disconnect switch, and in-line breaker), my frequent observation is that the units are sometimes put together without the best quality checks. Some things to look for: are the terminal screws tight; are the ferrule ends crimped well; is there sufficient slack in the cables/wires; are any of the enclosure gaskets pinched; is the breaker a DC (not AC) style (yes, this is important due to arc flash protection). Conclusion: At $27 for a 32A, 2P (pole) box, this is average priced, so rating this 1-stars (-non-specialty, poor construction).

CNLonQcom Solar DC Disconnect Switch 32 Amp 500V DC Miniature Circuit Breaker with IP65 Waterproof Box for Outdoor PV Stystem, Rv and Solar Panel (32A 500V)CNLonQcom Solar DC Disconnect Switch 32 Amp 500V DC Miniature Circuit Breaker with IP65 Waterproof Box for Outdoor PV Stystem, Rv and Solar Panel (32A 500V)I ordered this 32 amp solar disconnect switch mostly for the switching ability rather than circuit protection, but it should serve that purpose as well. The outer housing seems well made and should hold up to weather. I was a little unsure about the clear outer cover, because it was a little difficult to open and I was afraid that I would break it. It did open, and it cams over to stay open, and then closes pretty well. This kit comes with the extra MC4 hardware and mounting screws, which is handy. I’ll be using this on a standalone off grid PV system to run freezers in case of a long term power outage. I haven’t installed this switch yet, so I can’t confirm its protection level, but again, I’m using it primarily as a switch for my system. I think that a 32 amp DC switch with waterproof enclosure is well worth this price and I’m happy with it.

Completed my new portable solar power system. I learned that you should always use a disconnect for solar because the voltages are often high. So I wanted to be careful and make sure to get the right size and use this always.
