I have an angel that does not know when to stop laying eggs. She will continue to make passes to add more eggs for several hours after she is actually done. While doing this she dislodges all the eggs leaving none by morning. With the cage I can prevent her from doing this. I removed what the Angels was using to lay their eggs on when I added this. Now I have to wait to see if they will except this. I have seen the pair cleaning it but have not laid any eggs yet.

I have a couple of Blue Acara Cichlids who regularly mate but have yet to lay their brood of eggs on this device. I also have several pairs of Angelfish who are male and female but none have given this any attention. The Angelfish haven't mated previously, to my knowledge, but the Acaras have. This is made of clay like a flowerpot and has holes in the top so it's easy for water to move through and place it in the bottom of the tank. It came with a hand-made circular cage of hardware cloth so you can put that around it when eggs start to hatch to give the fry a buffer to escape to if other fish try to eat them (and they will). But I've not had to use it and frankly don't care for the way any of it looks. This clay statue looks like a sexual toy in the tank, which I can forgive, but if I had to do it over again, I'd order one with a flat top instead of a domed one so it looks less phallic.
