LH front axle shaft for Jeep / Dana 30 front axle assembly. As noted in a separate review, the RH axle shaft assembly arrived damaged, was poorly packaged. This part arrived in a separate box which was a little beat up, but the axle shaft had not (yet) escaped its container. I was going to keep this part until I noticed a defect on the shaft surface just inboard of the u-joint / dust shield. At first looked like a crack, but as this was a new part, with a closer look appears to be a forging cold lap, introduced in the manufacturing process. On the surface of a drive shaft, this is a break-me-here defect. Apparently no one on the production side cares about quality. Again, no thanks Spicer.
