It was smaller than I expected but it is good for cracking the crab shell. But good for a hammer to ring the bell. I like this design.

Does not work for Maryland steamed crabs, head is too small. They need to make one with a larger head and stouter handle, very hard to get a good grip. This item is extremely small for its advertised use as a crab mallet. Might be okay for a small child learning how to clean a crab, but other than that it's useless.

I bought this hammer to empty the used coffee grounds in my reusable Keurig pod. It's nice and has a good weight to the head.
