I bought these shears to cut a 1/4” felt carpet pad and they wouldn’t cut through. They are advertised as heavy duty and able to cut through thick items. They did NOT!

Very sturdy, very sharp, a welcome addition to my toolbox.Although the case matches with its yellow and black coloring, it's obviously a genetic case that's not specific to these sheers. But we're not buying a case (pouch) we're buying scissors, and these are the best I've ever had.

I'd compare these to an in between pair of scissors between something like standard, good quality home/office scissors and electricians shears or tin snips. They're solid and open and close smoothly, and can cut thick material without issue. The metal used for these isn't identified, other than being "stainless steel" so I wouldn't use these on metal. Use tin snips for that. The handles are a rubber material, and are well padded. These are a good pair at an inexpensive price so you won't feel too bad if you damage or lose them.

I like how straightforward the handle design is, makes taking them out and using them as easy as modern aviation snips. As long as the target is not approaching the hardness of iron or is absurdly thick, this will do a good job of cutting through it. The serrations and thick strong blades are great, and the tension mechanism makes these a potentially very long term investment if treated right and maintained regularly. The obligatory white knit synthetic fiber gloves are at best something I will use once or twice and they will be tattered by the end, more throwaway junk in the landfill. These are not the useful add on customers want, either collaborate with quality glove wholesalers on this, put more effort into these, or leave them out altogether. And while I am covering negatives, the blade lock is a useful feature I always appreciate, but it is tiny. How am I to activate that lock with the gloves on when it is difficult enough to pinpoint with bare fingers? Also, it is a little unintuitive, there is no positive feedback like a click, or obvious visual feedback such as the hook is holding fast to the raised steel nub, or the latch is now in the lock position. I use these scissors with a belt holster for pruning shears/scissors, so it opening by surprise and hurting me is practically a non issue, but for those with dedicated holsters, it is a bit of a safety hazard how accidentally these can open and how someone could unthinkingly not lock it fully to begin with.Despite my criticism, these cheap but solid and sturdy utility scissors, and are my go to now for cutting zip ties, they excel at the task, I overlook the flaws without thought in day to day use. Nevertheless, the lock could use a revision, maybe take a leaf out of pruning shears/aviation snips and their tried and true host of locking mechanisms, and the gloves.
