The vented design helps to improve airflow and maintain optimal temperatures for the mounted equipment. The cantilever tray includes cage nuts and screws for quick deployment. The fixed-rack shelf is made of 14-gauge (2mm) SPCC steel for long-term durability and sturdiness while supporting up to 44lb (20kg) of equipment. Accommodate server rack equipment, accessories, or non-mountable devices for ease of access and connectivity. The large venting holes on the shelf surface enable improved airflow to dissipate heat and helps maintain optimal equipment temperatures.

I'm an idiot. My best friend is giving me a server soon and he told me to try and acquire a server rack beforehand. I didn't really know what that meant. I should have looked it up. But this server rack SHELF became available to me and I jumped on it. I asked him if it was the right size and while I waited for him to respond I did some searching and realized that this is just a shelf that you can mount INSIDE a server rack once you have one. So I still need one of those. This shelf seems like it's great quality; it's made of heavy, thick metal and includes the necessary mounting hardware. I apologize that I can't provide a more in-depth review than that because I didn't understand what I was ordering. When I do get a server rack, if this shelf fits I'll provide more details if I notice anything relevant.

This is thicker than expected, feels very solid before going into the rack. Startech is one of those brands that you can trust with getting quality. This shelf will easily hold a few nucs and the vent holes make for convenient tie down spots.

This item is very high-quality. I was shocked at how heavy duty this shelf is. The shelf is very well-made, well designed, and comes with rack mounting screws and bolts as well. I got the shelf and was excited to install it on my wall mounted rack. The one thing I didn’t account for is the depth of this shelf. If you have a freestanding rack, this will be perfect. If you’re like me and have a wall-mounted, little bit smaller rack, it might be a little too deep like it was for me. The shelf is about 16 1/4 inches deep and my shelf could only handle about 13 1/4 inches. So if you have a freestanding rack, I would highly recommend buying this, if you have a wall-mounted rack like me I would advise that you check the depth of the rack before purchasing. I modified mine and installed it anyway, and love having it in place.

I am assembling a 19" rack for my home network and server components. Since many of my components are not intended for rack mounting I have installed 1U and 2U shelves to hold them. This 2U shelf was especially attractive to me because I've come to trust StarTech over the years. I was not disappointed this time. It is strong, precisely made and finished. The accompanying hardware is excellent and allowed me to easily install the shelf with no hassle. The accompanying photos show some of the features that I really like, as well as a bit of installation help.First, the bolt holes are generous in size to allow for adjustment and any variance in the rack. I am sensitive to this because another device I recently installed was off by a bit and required modification to fit in the rack. This shelf was just perfect in fit.The sturdiness of the shelf is great. I am an opportunist when it comes to putting these things together. That is, I will tend to choose to adapt items to save money if the end purpose can be met at the sacrifice of a bit of aesthetics. For this project, I chose to avoid getting a rack mountable UPS. I chose to use one I already owned an set it on the rear part of of this shelf, as shown in the photo. I will add a strap to keep it stable, but the main thing I want to point out is that the 20lb UPS caused no visible sag in this shelf. It's that sturdy.The finish is very nice - durable powder paint that does not chip easily and is very evenly coated.For installation, note that I find it helpful to clamp the unit in place before trying to insert the screws/bolts. Another way to do this would be to set the unit on its back, but I have enough things in it that I chose to leave it standing and use clamps as shown in the photo.The finished installation looks good to me and I am super happy with the sturdiness. This is a great addition.

This is a nice rack shelf option. Construction feels good and it's fairly heavy though not unnecessarily-so for this size of shelf. Hardware is included. The shelf is powder-coated with a finer powder-coat than I'm used to. Almost has a satin/velvet finish. It's nice, just not sure if it will hold up the same as some of the more aggressive finishes. Overall, a great shelf option, especially at this price point.

This 2U shelf keeps all my loose network gear - spare drives, cables, and small UPS units - securely contained in my server rack. The steel construction feels solid, easily handling the weight without flexing. Ventilation holes are a smart touch, though they don’t replace active cooling for heat-sensitive gear. Installation was straightforward, though the included screws didn’t fit my rack’s threaded inserts - had to swap them out. A practical, no-frills solution for corralling rack clutter.

Not the most exciting review I’ll ever write since it’s a sheet of bent metal, but it definitely does the job. Vent holes are reasonably sized and there’s room for my cable modem and my Pi which aren’t rack mountable. Speaking of which, zero issues with mounting and it slots in perfectly in my cabinet.

I am impressed by the gauge of the steel used for this shelf. It is on par with the enterprise grade shelves I've installed on jobs, for a fraction of the cost. It feels like it could hold a very heavy server or disk chassis without compromising the angle. The mounting holes line up appropriately, and I'm very happy with it.
