I will say upfront that I am no "techie" but I have a nephew who is brilliant with computer repair and even owns his own business serving most of our local major businesses so he really knows his stuff. I do however have a boatload of old computers that I received when my uncle passed so I handing him these parts and told him to do his magic and get them up and running for me so I could hopefully recover them or at least have some backup computers.This item worked great on a computer that also had one other problem aside from needing this part replaced and he was able to get it up and running just fine after all this time. These parts really are good quality parts and he said that he was very impressed with them and would consider servicing with this brand when he was out of the parts he has stocked from another brand was gone. I recently discovered to my amazement that a relatively new socket 1150 motherboard actually had a COM header! I needed a COM port for an older legacy item that communicates this way and purchased this header to give it a try. Yes, it worked perfectly.Be advised that this version has a low profile bracket. I knew this going in and actually purposely purchased it this way as it saved me around 60 cents.... as I already had spare full height COM port brackets.

I did not realize when I purchased this item that the mounting plate was half height. My PC box does not have half-height slots. To make the installation more solid, I replaced the plate with one from an old VGA graphics card.The nine pin connector is the same size as a VGA connector. The connector is now installed in the PC and works fine.

Great quality, works fine......wish I had noticed the "LP" for "low profile" meant these fit short, thin case...these are NOT standard length/height...still screw in well enough, secure enough, to use in standard height case anyway. 🙄

Just ordered a second one... hope that one works as well!Downside is that it's LP, but I have a standard plate so easy to swap. Will have to scrounge to locate a plate for the one I just ordered.. else an old video card will have to part w/ it's plate for the Good of the Team.But the important thing is that this WORKS. Needed a short MB-Header to 9 pin serial for backwards compatibility with the I6/I7 series boards where they Got Sneaky and turned off native USB support for KB/Mice in Windows 7. Yes, can DISM or inject the drivers on the fly, but never hurts to be lazy and just plug something in. Also in the event of Something Weird, always good to have something that works w/o a need for tweaking, and if any old APC UPSes wander by and need to communicate with them via cable, will also be set.

Excellent product just what I was looking for my computer, I have a motherboard with the serial port but it didn't come with the header.
