I had a $340 Rockford Fosgate 1200 watt car stereo amplifier that after 5 years the amp got stuck in the "on" position (internal relay failed). I thought, well, why can't I just use an external relay? I was worried the relay cord from the car stereo (that is prob rated 0.5-1a) would not have enough juice but it worked out great, solved my problem, amp turns off with the car stereo now, voila!
