Way of Enjoyment
- Play with a mallet - hold the mallet lightly and let it fall off the note and bounce off.
- Play with hands - To achieve the hand-playing technique, hit the notes with just one-finger pads.
- Play with picks - Picks are another way to create the perfect sound, and if you're familiar with drums, try them out.

Okay, I've got to be honest. The guys in my band hate this thing, but I love it, seriously. I drove them nuts for the first couple of weeks when I first got it. Did I know how to accurately play it, no, but it was still fun just to make some very cool sounds with it. So after numerous complaints from the band mates, I finally brought the drum home with me. Now I'm still a novice on being able to play the drum with any source of quality. But what I did find was that I was able to find and make better sounds when I played it with my fingers instead of the drum sticks. While playing at home, I'll just sit back, close my eyes and some how my fingers and ears just instinctively find beautifully complimenting tones. Are they songs? I don't know, I just love how cool it sounds. And yes from time to time, I think I actually play a melody with it. Of course just like any instrument, practice makes perfect. I've always been a huge fan of world music and playing this around the house has become almost a form of therapeutic relaxation. So while I may never play it for anyone but myself, I really enjoy this drum. Now this is the only style of this instrument that I have ever played, so I don't have anything to compare it by. But the tones are beautiful and the drum is well made with everything you need to learn to play. So novice or pro, I think this would be an excellent addition to anyone's musical collection. Thank you.

I enjoy music, and play guitar (ok) and piano (badly) and have always loved these types of instruments. The sound is lovely, a little tribal, a little zen. The booklet that came with it is cute, as are the number stickers, and thanks to them I was able to knock out "Twinkle twinkle little star" in minutes. I will have a lot of fun learning this drum without annoying the neighbors too much. The extras that come with it are a nice package, you can play right away. Good for a beginner like me, but I think it will stand up to more experienced players too, since it appears well made.

I love how it has # on it for him to learn at 4! The tones are beautiful. I highly recommend this to parents with children who are wanting to learn.

This such a cute little drum and it works really well. My daughter loves it and I use it in a music class I teach and the kids and adults like it too. It has such a pretty sound and is super fun to play.

Well don’t bother with the finger pieces, they don’t do anything. Was missing some sticker fits. Best for kids. If your wanting it for more than, look into getting a professional one.

This small, bright red steel-drum is solidly built and perhaps ideal for kids. The sound of the drum is generally decent, however the highest 3-4 notes don’t have a clear tone. This is probably the greatest limiting factor of the instrument, but still it’s useful for messing around on (my nieces seem to love it). The drum also comes with a helpful instruction book and a nice bag for easy carrying. You can play it by using the small mallets or the finger pick-things that are included. Overall I’d say the drum would make a good gift for children who like to bang around or want to learn some drumming, but I’m not sure I’d consider it a professional-grade instrument.
