Scanner has cheapplastic feel and 9v battery(off brand) was almost out of juice. Other than that it does seem to work well. Would have been 5 stars if battery was decent.

It works just like a more expensive one I've used before, it gets the job done! Detects studs and most importantly for me, electric wires! Haven't had any issues with it so far

Cool stud finder! This is the first time I have seen a stud finder that also finds metal and electrical wiring. It will “Detects wood studs at depths of 1/2 inch (13mm), 1 inch (25mm), and 1.5 inches (38mm). Includes metal scanning up to 2.36 inches (60mm) and AC wire detection up to 2 inches (51mm)” according to the instructions. This finder is made of plastic and is lightweight. I had a bathroom and my dining room was remodeled down to the studs. The electrical wiring was replaced and I want to hand shelves, pictures and decorations on the walls. It has an LCD screen and a backlight that is great for older eyes that need more light. I am your basic homeowner who is clueless and has to depend on tools for help to get things done correctly. I used it to locate the electrical wires as I basically know where they are located, and it did a great job showing that there were electrical wires behind the wall board. It also found every metal clip on the pex water lines that are in one of the walls. It was very accurate finding the studs and letting me know where the center was. It takes one 9-volt battery which is included. I found it to be very accurate and so far has helped me find and use the studs as the floating shelves are heavy and must be installed on studs. This finder works great and is priced right. My name brand stud finder was more expensive and it cannot find metal or electrical. I would order this finder again and will update my review if anything changes.

When preparing to remodel or hanging pictures or shelves (or really anything) on a wall, it's helpful to know what's behind where you are about to nail or drill, especially if there is a power wire hiding in there. It's also nice to know if you need a hollow wall anchor or if you can drill right into the stud. This device can help.The device has a simple screen and mode button and a soft felt on the back so you can slide it around on your wall and not worry about leaving marks. You MUST place it on the wall and press the calibration button on the side. Once the bar timer ticks down, it's ready to use. If you DO NOT calibrate EACH time you put it on a new wall or even pull it away from the wall and put it on a new spot on the SAME wall, its accuracy is questionable. You MUST calibrate each time.This device does find wall studs, both the edges and the center, which is very helpful. I only tested wood studs as I have no metal ones in my home. I was less confident in its ability to find AC power wires however. It is supposed to do this in AC detection mode, but also automatically in wall stud detection modes. It did give me warnings when I was near wire, but there were times when it gave me warnings when I was over a section of wall where I am pretty sure there was not any wiring and occasionally the wiring indicator wold briefly light up and then go out when searching a wall for studs. So while it works great as a stud finder, I'm not sure I trust its AC wiring detection 100% so I only gave it 4 stars.

The stud finder came in handy right when I needed it. We’re in the process of remodeling a rental property and having to put new cabinets in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be drilling into anything I shouldn’t be. It was very easy to set up and the beats. Let me know right when I was over the studs. I didn’t really set it to the other modes, looking for wires or waterlines as I knew where I was putting the cabinets wasn’t going over any of them. Got a lot of plans to do some stuff around my own house and I know that my house is much older and I will need to be finding where other things then studs are so this is going to come in very handy when that time comes. All in all is a great stud finder works perfectly. I was able to hit the middle of the stud every time I would recommend it!
