Don’t buy this base for your umbrella! During the time I’ve had this product, one after the other sections leaked out of the bottom holes. I just met another owner of the same product, who had the same issue in three of their sections. Be warned!

I filled them with washed playground sand. I filled each pad with one bag (approx 40lbs, then filled with water), so I have about 200 lbs holding the umbrella in place. The SunnyGlade 10x13 umbrella is massive. I will say that filling the pads took a while b/c the hole is relatively small. If you have dry sand, probably not an issue, but it's hard to get dry sand from the big box stores.

We had a cantilever umbrella that, inconveniently, did not come with any kind of steady base. We searched for the right product to buy to add weight and this did the trick splendidly. It was easy to fill with water and attached to our existing crossbar-style umbrella base very easily. The umbrella has been steady and it looks nice, too.

Bought this for a new 11 foot Jeary cantilever patio shade. My shade has a pedal in the base so the shade can be rotated. No problems fully depressing the pedal while repositioning the shade. Works great. Easy to fill, sturdy thick plastic. Heavy duty pins fit well. It took about five 50 pound bags of play sand to fill all four weights. As far as filling the containers- USE DRY SAND. All of the sand available at our big box store was slightly moist so we spread it out on our driveway in the sun for about 15 minutes. Then we taped a plastic milk bottle with the bottom cut off onto the opening and just shoveled the sand in. Took a few minutes to fill each one. Easy peasey. DO NOT try this with wet sand unless you really hate yourself. After five minutes of rangling wet sand through a 1” hole you will want to stab yourself in the eye with a fork. Don’t be a Gumby.

They arrived ahead of scheduleThey seem very sturdy and should hold up to the S.E. Louisiana weather. Filling them was a little bit of a chore. I made a funnel from a plastic bottle which fit perfectly in the fill port. I chose to use sand for the weights to eliminate any possibility of leaks. Each one held a 50 lb. Bag of sand so handling four 50 lb bags was somewhat of a strain. They fit nicely around the feet of my umbrella and locked together easily. Time will tell how they hold up.

You do need a heavy base for the Sunnyglad cantilevered offset umbrella. After reading the reviews which proved very helpful I followed their advice. One reviewer commented that he filled each base with sand and then with water. I followed suit. Make sure the sand is dry because wet sand does not slide into the base at all. Then after all the sand is filled, tap the base down to help the sand settle. Then refill the base again and repeat until you can see that the sand is at the fill nozzle. Then add water. You will see the sand settle some more. I didn't add any more sand because the base was heavy enough. Worked so great. Gives me peace of mind especially when the wind starts to blow. When that umbrella sways, you will want to have a little assurance that the umbrella won't topple. The base with sand and water is that assurance. It's also nice to see the base fits so well in the stand with U-clips to hold the 4 bases together.

Bought the weights for my umbrella. Filled with water and the 4 weights easily hold and stabilize the umbrella. There are 4 connecting rods that hold the 4 weights together but are really hard to keep all 4 in, that's about my only complaint. Costing $85 way overpriced too but if I can get a few years out of it I will be happy! Empty the water in the fall as you don't want to leave the water in there year round as expansion and subtracting can crack the plastic.
