After carefully planting and modesty mounting the cap to the flat and clean distributor housing at 20lb/in torgue, I listened to "ping" then "pong" and saw hairline cracks in the cap nearest the breather port. Poor quality is to find a weak mold injection "weap" point between #2 and #7 contacts; a design hole in a critical stress area. Absolutely dispute product claims of "super hard" housing and won't dare put this on anyone's Mercury engine. Returning this design-defective product prior any use and going with an OEM rotor cap; fingers crossed the housing is a much sturdier molding.
