This review is for Thermaltronics M7CH176 Chisel 30deg 1.78mm (0.07in) interchangeable for Metcal STTC-137This seems to be an exact replacement for a Metcal STTC-137. It works in my Metcal 5200 without any errors. The tip heats to the specified temperature and the coating on the tip takes solder and tinning compound very well. We use only leaded solder.I used the tip for a number of soldered connections and they came out looking pretty good. I cannot comment on durability for production work as our use if for engineering prototypes and repair. This seems like a somewhat lower priced alternative for Metcal tips that perform in a similar manner to a factory Metcal tip. Recommended.

This Thermaltronics tip works great with my Metcal MX-5200. It slotted into the handpiece without issue and came up to temp quickly, just like the original Metcal cartridges. Hard to beat the smart heat!Decent length and nice and thin, which is especially great when you're working on boards with a mix of through-hole and surface-mount components and need to squeeze into tight spots.Tip tinnability was good out of the box, and after a few sessions of moderate use, it still wets easily and hasn’t shown signs of oxidizing or pitting prematurely.I’ve used Thermaltronics tips before and find them to be a solid alternative to OEM. This one performed exactly as I expected—no weird fit issues, no odd temperature behavior or dreaded errors, and it held its shape well even during extended work sessions.Overall, it’s a reliable option that plays well with my existing setup. If you’re used to Metcal’s quality, this doesn’t feel like a downgrade in any practical sense. Good value for the money.

If you have a Thermaltronics or Metcal unit - this is a great tip that offers control and good heat transfer - and this one is my favorite style.

I have a bunch of Thermaltronics soldering irons and tips. These do not disappoint. The heat up quickly and do not deteriorate. Of note, these are the yellow band, which are specific for lead free solder, but they will still work on leaded solder

Itʻs a knock off soldering tip for a Metcal hand piece...Itʻs half the price. It fits. It gets hot enough to solder with and the power supply hasnʻt blown up yet

I'll be buying more of these, they seem to be a perfect drop-in replacement for the other name brand tips. No complaints at all.

It works in the beginning, but it doesn't last long, after about 500 points of solder joints, there is a hole shows up on one side of the chisel. And it took longer time to heat the solder joints thereafter. I like the real STTC-137 better, it last way longer than this clone version.
