My 5 yr old grandson is into music, so I got this to encourage his interest. When I tried it out, it seemed to be somewhat more complicated than I thought a 5 yr old would be able to figure out. But since I'm not very tech savvy at 68, I'm sure a 5 yr old would still have fun with it and do better than I did. It might just grow with him also. It feels good in the hand and has a nice booklet. Having a charging cord is a big plus.

Got this for my teen daughter to try out she actually likes it been trying to play songs. It’s a little hard to get every beat since you don’t have many keys but it’s not impossible and it’s fun to play with according to her. Sound is not super loud nor low at all. Great value for your money.

this is unique. The kids were drawn to it and are using it to understand patterns in music. There are other settings but they are hard to follow including the practice one. Also the other instruments sound pretty bad, so we stick to the basic piano tone. Outside of the other weird sounds, this is a good instrument to introduce kids to music.

This is one of those things that takes a lot of practice to get used to. I'm not sure how great it is for kids unless they're older, but I have a difficult time using it. The material is soft silicone and not at all grippy so it slips out of my hand. I got this for my 6 year old because he's into instruments and pianos but it's a little big for his hands. He does enjoy playing around with it, cycling through the different instruments and trying to follow along in the practice mode. Maybe he'll eventually get the hang of it but it's going to take a lot of work. The sound quality is fine and the volume can be controlled (thankfully). The speaker is located at the bottom of the unit. I like that it's USB C rechargeable (cable included, no adapter) so no need to worry about batteries. It came fully charged and haven't needed to charge it yet, but it doesn't get used often. At first I thought it was just 5 notes, but then learned that there are way more that require multiple buttons to be pressed at once. This is where practice is going to be necessary. I'm not very musically inclined so it's quite a bit more difficult for me. It would probably be easier if there was a visual aid showing finger positions, but it's going to kind of boil down to using practice mode (the keys/buttons light up) and developing the muscle memory. The pressure response is pretty good but as I mentioned before, it slips around to easily to play fast, even if I knew what I was doing.

This is such a fun and unique little instrument! I got it for my adult partner who loves niche musical instruments and plays around with digital looping and music, as something to fiddle around with. It has a lot of fun potential, the "training" routines definitely help with getting your fingers in the right place regardless of which instrument you pick. It is best for larger hands or 2 hands, since it fills the palm of a large adult hand completely.Figuring out how to navigate through all the instrument settings and getting it to play right away is a little tricky, so not a perfect 5 stars to me.
