Fully expected to be disappointed, but was very pleasantly surprised! This is an awesome little 1/4 sheet hand sander. Yes it's plastic but very meaty and heavier than I thought it would be. Super easy to load, just cut a sheet of your favorite sand paper in quarters across the 8-1/2" width and flip the levers to lock in your paper and you are ready to rock and roll. I love this thing!!!

Saw this block in a video somewhere and got curious. Did a little looking around online and found a whole lot of positive reviews so I decided to splurge. Man, am I glad I did. This block is great! If you do a lot of sanding you need to get one (or more). Loads up easily with a quarter sheet strip of sandpaper and locks in place with no slippage. Easy to grip and the rubber padding provides good contact with the workpiece. Because of the locking design you can even remove a used sheet without damaging it a save for use later. As soon as my boss tried mine he went online and ordered 2 more. Gotta love a simple, practical, well-made tool. Stop reading, get one.

There’s a time and a place for an orbital sander, but I hand sand when I can, and have always enjoyed it. Have used a variety of sanding blocks, and never gave them much thought.And then I got the Preppin’ Weapon. (This is an awesome name, btw.) I love it! I told my husband it is my favorite thing in my tool shop, and is my favorite amazon purchase EVER.The important details to me: 1) The weight. It’s substantial enough, with evenly distributed weight, that I don’t feel like I have to push it or muscle it, resulting in a much more even surface, with no unintentional deep marks. It glides. 2) Shape/size: I’m a somewhat taller than average woman, average weight, and this fits perfectly in my hands. And I think it is sized and shaped well enough to fit most hands. 3) It HOLDS the paper, with a perfect and simple clip on each end. No slipping! 4) It is already saving me sandpaper. Good sandpaper is a must, and this seemed a little pricey to me. But between saving paper and increasing the quality of my work, I’m ready to buy more so I can have several grits loaded!

I have previously purchased this, one at a time over the years, in yellow, red, and blue colors. I wanted to get this green one to complete my set so I could have each color loaded with a different grit of sandpaper, starting with the coarsest on the red one and moving through the rainbow to blue for the finest. (It is now possible to buy a complete set of all 4 colors from one or two sources, but when I first bought one, only yellow was available; the manufacturer added the other colors over the years.)Apart from the convenience of being able to switch sandpaper grits without having to stop and change it on one sanding block, this is itself a great sanding block. Although it's hollow plastic, it is well-made, with a solid feel, a true flat rubberized sole that is the right balance between "give" and hardness, and stainless-steel clips activated by levers that are easy to move yet grip the sandpaper strips securely. I especially like that I can stack several strips of sandpaper on the block and just tear off the bottom one when it gets too worn or torn, so I keep working and minimize my downtime. Combine this with a sandpaper-ripping jig to quickly and easily tear standard sandpaper sheets into strips sized for this block (four per sheet without waste), this comes as close as you can get to the perfect hand-sanding experience.

It's truly amazing that a tool as simple as a sanding block can be even more simplified and made 100 fold more effective. I purchased this sanding block to remove gasket residue (really tough stuff) from the head of my 1975 Honda CB 550 F SS. I wanted something I could control, so that I wouldn't destroy my aluminum block. I thought this would fit the bill.I combined this with some 1000 grit wet/dry sand paper to do the job. The thing held grip even with all the WD-40 I sprayed at it for lubrication.TIME SAVING:First off the mounting method is extremely simple, I did it with one hand faster than I thought I could, so much that I was like WTF? I just did that. You flip the metal arms to release the metal tongue/finger (whichever creeps you out less) and fold the paper into it. Then you close it shut with the arms, it really is that simple.EFFICIENCY:Using a regular sheet of sandpaper 9 x 11 (I believe), it will use 4 quarters of it perfectly. Doesn't waste any paper period, just make sure you cut to the size of the sanding block to get the optimal amount every time.ERGONOMICS AND USE:Great shape, my hand never became tired and I always had perfect pressure with it, which is EXTREMELY important when sanding engine parts. I cut through the gasket residue in about an hour per surface (which is insanely fast compared to what I was doing before).This is a great product, with great value. If you're doing anything requiring sanding DO NOT WASTE MONEY ANYWHERE ELSE ON ANYTHING ELSE. This little product paid for itself the first time I used it and for that I'm giving it 5 stars.I'll Post pictures of the engine blocks for reference.
