I am a needlework-crafter at heart. I have experience with embroidery, crochet, macrame, counted cross-stitch and knitting. Of them all, I have worked with yarn (crocheting and knitting) the most & thus, need tapestry needles with a variety of eye sizes to accommodate a variety of yarn sizes.I confess that when I do any of these crafts, I generally am sitting in a recliner with the TV on as background noise. I am able to concentrate simply because there are several things going on at once. This also means I get distracted by one or the other...and suddenly drop the yarn or the scissors or worst of all...the needle. I'm astonished at how quickly those needles disappear. POOF! I'm hunting in the chair cushions, floor, blanket on my lap, the project itself...and guess what. They simply disappear. So I go through a lot of needles.Thus, this set of tapestry needles will come in VERY handy. I love the storage box; it stands upright, is sturdy and easy to put the needle back into once I'm finished. It's about the size of one of my fingers and stands sturdy.The product contains 6 aluminum needles with bent tips with the same sized eyes as well as 6 plastic needles with straight tips & variable sized eyes. They are all different colors.The aluminum ones are very similar to the name-brand ones you can purchase at craft stores. The plastic ones are different lengths and frankly, do not seem very durable. They flex when I push on them. They likely will be good if you are working with a novelty yarn that tends to get caught in different threads. Overall, though, it's a universal set that will serve me well with many different projects.Even though I don't think the plastic ones will be very useful to me, the aluminum ones will. The entire set of 12 plus the nice case was only $6. Even if I never use the plastic ones, this set is certainly worth that and I recommend it.

Only half of these needles are aluminum, the rest are plastic. They were all jammed so tightly into the cylindrical holder, that most of the plastic needles are bent (curved). I am happy with the metal needles, they work great with my knitting machine cast-off. I will probably throw away the plastic deformed needles.
