A really super basket lashed with chair cane. Skills Learned: 2/2 twill pattern over base and sides of basket. Note: You will need 4 small clamps (2") or 4 clip clothespins to weave this basket. This was only the second basket I’ve ever made. I found the instructions very helpful. I had plenty of materials with extra that could be used on another project. The shortness of the basket does make it a little challenging as the reed wants to pop back out as you’re weaving the sides. Lots of clothespins will help hold things in place. You’ll also want a tool you can use to tighten the sides once you weave in all the rows to help get the correct shape. The reed quality is fair, but I did have issues with it trying to split as I packed the weavers down.

the instructions with this kit were very good. unfortunately, the reed was very poor quality and there wasn't enough of it. I have been weaving for 30 years so I did not waste any materials or miscut any reed. fortunately I have enough materials of my own to fill in and make it work out.

Plenty of supplies. Good value. Lots of fun and a useful catch-all. I sprayed a walnut colored stain on the basket, which was a mistake as you no longer see the different shades of the reed. Oh well!

This was fun to make and a great first project. It's smaller than I'd imagined, but isn't it always 🙄. The instructions were easy to understand And i had plenty of materials to complete the project and even enough to make a simple lid for my basket as well. Though if I'd been more experienced i might have made the basket slightly bigger with the excess instead. The color of the smoked reed isn't as saturated as it is in the picture but it's still cute. At one point i realized that i could have bought a better basket for the same price it took to make this one. It's fine though. It's about the experience right?

If you are learning to weave baskets, this is the basket you should try second.Not quality materials, but good enough for learning.A fairly priced item.
