I have this on my daughter’s bicycle with training wheels to help make sure that she doesn’t go too fast and lose control, and I can use it to help push her up inclines. It works really well on her Pacific Cloud Dancer bike. I believe that it will help me steady her as she learns to ride without her training wheels one day too.The only complaint I really have is that it has a little bit of rust in the part that connects to the bike, but I sanded the metal a little and spray painted the little portion that was exposed. It’s good enough now. Otherwise, it is a great, sturdy handle.

Tough to tighten and to get it to stay tight. Something other than that butterfly nut may work. Not cheap.

This works great for my son. He is 3 and autistic. It was hard for us to walk all the way home after school and I was tired of carrying him the 3 blocks home, so I bought him his first bike. He hasn't quite gotten the hang of pedaling yet and really were are focusing on steering first anyway. This bar allows me to push him while he steers and also makes it easy for me to push it home after I drop him off in the morning and again when I have to pick him up.It was easy to install and is overall perfect. I am 4'11" and the bar allows me to push the bike without bending but I suspect a taller person may have to bend. But again, this is perfect for me and I can't think of one thing I would change!

Our child was between training wheels and riding solo. Our backs were killing from bending down holding the seat. My husband is 6'4", I'm 5'3" and our kid is 8. This fit very easily and securely on the back of the bike. It makes it easy to help balance the child, guide a bit, grab hard to prevent falling one way to another. As the child gets better, it's easy to jog along side and just tap the handle to keep things upright when the child wobbles. The handle isn't in the way or heavy to cause issue for the kid when riding alone. We spent a year off an on trying to get to two wheels solo and everyone was frustrated and dreaded practice. With this handle we all looked forward to practice and our child was riding solo in just a couple weeks' worth of practices!

There is a whole new approach to teaching children how to ride and it does not involve breaking your back or your bank. I purchased the trainer handle and was disappointed to find that it would not fit my six-year-old daughter's 12-inch bike. After a bit of subsequent research, I discovered the push-bike phenomenon. Push bikes are basically bicycles without pedals. With the push bike, a child is able to become familiar and comfortable with balance while in motion without being distracted by the process of pedaling. It frees their little feet so that they can make subtle corrections without crashing as they learn. Once they are comfortable coasting along without touching the ground, you can introduce pedals and they will take to bicycle riding instantly. But who wants to spend the money on a specialized push bike? I didn't. So I just removed the pedals from my daughter's bike. Withing 45 minutes, she was coasting the length of the block without touching so I installed her pedals. I laughed out loud as she pedaled the length of the block with no problem. All-in-all, it took her less than an hour to learn to ride a bike. Training wheels are useful for teaching them the pedaling mechanics, but once you think they are ready to learn to ride, just remove their training wheels and pedals and let them learn to coast.

This handle has made my family's life easier. We have a 12 inch bike for me 2.5 yo. She is fairly advanced and has been begging for a bike. Once she was potty trained she got her bike, well she can't figure out how to pedal yet. my husband and I have been pushing her. This handle has made things so much easier on us. The bolt that connects it to the bike was much to large for a 12 inch bike. This was not a problem at all because of the grippy clamp. We were able to tighten it enough to have a secure placement. If you are much taller than 6ft you may find it to short for you. My husband is 6ft tall and it works perfectly for him, I am closer to 5ft and find it equally as comfortable to use.

If your child was using training wheels previously, then a lot of what the handle does is provide reassurance that an adult is helping to steady the bike. Our daughter took only four rides to get to a point where the handle was unnecessary. I found myself jogging behind her with no hands in contact, ready to grab the handle if she started to falter. She just assumed I was always grabbing it, so she rode confidently. However, there were five ride without training wheels. The first ride was me holding the seat and/or handlebars. The pain in my back from running while hunched over told me that was a dumb idea. This handle saved me a ton of discomfort and pain while getting her on her way to independent riding. The handle provides a convenient, more reliable, and more stable way to get your child riding on their own without "taking one for the team". Highly recommended.

Rubber gasket / clamp arrangement isn't as secure as it could be in rough conditions...stronger bracket needed so it can really be reefed down or different shape or thicker gasket....bodged it a bit and it seems to be stable now.
