We have used this hub for years now with no issues at all. Very high transfer rates and all the ports still work. No setup necessary because its unmanaged. Just plug it in and it works

My old gigabit switch had started to make a lot of noise, so I decided to move that to be a spare (after lubricating the fans)... but I'm very happy to have a switch that doesn't use fans at all and my network closet is finally silent, which makes my wife happy. A month in, it's working great and I chose this unit because it has a very "fat" backbone - some switches that claim to be gigabit only have a gigabit internal speed, which means that backbone has to be shared among all the connected devices. This lets all the devices to talk to each other at a full gigabit without compromising connect speed of other devices.

Update review: network patch bay port causing problems switch OK.Failed purchased 06-27-2018 RA# on 01-07-2019 Treddnet web site indicated this model only has 3 year warranty. sent in copy of Limited Life and requested correction of there site and reflect correct warranty with my account. Replacement was on its way within 3 days. This unit dropped all network LAN and WAN traffic withing two minutes after a power reboot. When original 24 port switch was pulled from service not all used ports were put back into service do to a temp switch 8 port and a 4 port were used to keep only key items connected. When all patch cables were connected to the replacement switch dropping occurred. Isolation of the patch cables that were put back into service pin point one patch causing the problem. Cable was good but the patch bay had been wired wrong. Using B standard. # 8 and #7 the brown and white were reversed.original review:Had to retire my 10 year old NetGear 24port switch that was not auto updating port configs without rebooting it. This was causing haveckIts replacement not only saves on power (Green) but is capable of negotiation with current gigabyte devices. Well built mettle case quiet fan less non-managed switch is great for amateur home or small office uses on a budget. The price range for 24port upper end was + $2000. Managed, Features I would not have utilized. TRENDnet has pulled off an amazing 24 switch.

I've had this switch running in my home since August 2011 and I have not had a single hiccup. In fact, I used up all 24 ports (yes I am a tech geek) and just ordered a second switch today. I've been very pleased with the reliability and performance of this switch and I love the fact that I'm saving a few cents here and there on electricity for the ports that aren't being used (device powered off). I paired this with the rack-mount kit http://amzn.to/20JQ8XI so I could easily place it in my rack (yep, still a geek). The plugs are easy to manage, network cables don't get stuck or anything when swapping them out. Great design of putting the clips facing up on the top and facing down on the bottom row. The switch is a great value and performs great. Highly recommended.

Pros: The price was great for what I paid for it. This switch fit perfectly in the network box that I built for all my alarm system, phone wiring, cable TV, and the network patch cables. I ran Cat 7 wiring in 4 runs to every room (except the bathrooms.) With 4 bedrooms, a living room, and an office, That's all the ports. I plugged it into my Netgear Gigabit router, and it performs very well. Yes, you can do just about everything you want wirelessly these days, and I do have several wireless devices, but there's nothing like gigabit ethernet for transmitting streaming video, and of course, wired networking is a LOT more secure than wireless.Tip--if your router supports it, divide your network into wired and wireless segments and only do online banking and purchasing and so forth on the wired segment.Cons: It would be nice if I could have gotten a 48-port switch for the same price I paid for this 24-port unit.

This TRENDnet switch is great! But I wish the power plug was on the same side as the cables. I understand that's probably for rack installations. But, if you are geeking out and like to "look" at your switch lights blinking... (on your desktop or shelf) it makes it difficult to position it. (this is the ONLY reason I took a star off, otherwise 5 stars all the way!) I also wish I had the option of wall mounting with cables going down. Practically zero heat. This is actually for a home office. (and 4 teenagers on it) Got 6 computers, 1 xbox, 2 blue-rays, apple tv, 2 WAPS, 2 ipads, 3 smart phones and 2 kindles and a wired network printer on it. Obviously the wireless devices are connected to the WAPs and the WAPs are plugged into the switch. A single cable now goes over to the router. This seems to have helped the router better handle traffic. I used to use the router to do the switching and WAP. I've also put a fan on the router to keep it cool. Seems to have smoothed out the packets and the router is requiring less power cycling. We shall see over the long term how the router/cable modem (Motorola SB6121) handles it. Now to rewire this spaghetti wire mess next to my desk...

This is a sturdy, well-built Ethernet gigabit 24-port switch. It is about as simple as it gets, since it is unmanaged and has no settings or firmware to upgrade. Just plug it in and hook up your device cables (and router) to it. Since all the ports are auto-sensing, there is no need to worry about which ports you are connecting your router to. I like that this device has a physical off/on switch on its back and the power supply is built in. No power transformer or wall wart needed. The switch runs very cool to the touch, even when most ports are active. I don't hear any cooling fan or other sounds from the device. The unit feels sturdy and heavy with a metal case. The LED indicator lights and ports are both on the front, which is convenient. You can easily tell the status and speed of each port by reading the LEDs.The unit can be rack-mounted if needed. I have this one sitting on a shelf. It does come with press-on rubber feet if you don't want to rack-mount the device.I used this device to replace two 8-port gigabit switches from D-Link. No complaints so far. Works perfectly and the price was great! The energy-saving features are an added bonus.
