Got this remote / transmitter kit for a harbor breeze 5-blade fan with 4 directional lights. The original remote broke and was not repairable. I had initially hoped I could get the remote to learn the old transmitter but that did not work (the learn button is under the battery cover). Getting to the old transmitter in the canopy was a bit difficult for us since the downrod was really short. But once replaced (the instructions are accurate), the remote worked right away. Note that this remote requires a 23A battery. Overall turned out to be a great match.

This remote control for a ceiling fan worked well. Installation went well - but your installation will depend on how your ceiling fan is mounted and if there is room in the cowl that attaches to the ceiling. Mine had enough room to fit the transmitter, others might have the room above the mounting bracket. Once installed, everything works as it should. The remote remembers the last setting (i.e. light on/off, fan setting) when the power switch is flipped (if you shut it off at the wall and not only use the remote). There are dip switches on both modules so you can have multiple units controlling other ceiling fans and the remote not control the wrong fan. I don't agree with the description picture showing the remote is dog resistant inside the holder - the remote slides out of the holder without hardly any force, so keep it away from dogs. PLEASE NOTE: a battery does not come with this remote - you will need to purchase an A23 12V battery (one only). This is not a typical battery that people typically have around the house, so you will have to purchase one when you buy this unit. The description should mention the exact type of battery (A23 or 23A 12 V) needed.
